Hi all, Peter would like you all to read a reply he posted to me about his eventful recent trip. It's well worth reading and his vivid descriptions of his antics made me laugh.

It's in the post from Jill, holiday without Internet again. I tried to reproduce it as a separate post but it didn't work.

Dear Peter is an inspiration to us all.

Enjoy!

Thanks, NannaB. Good thinking. Dear Mr. Jones is so good about replying to everyone who asks, and everyone wants to know about his trip, so you are certainly saving him some typing! His adventures are always amazing and hilarious. Funny how he never seems to fall on a bloke, though...

I've just read your reply to C and when I got to the last sentence he laughed, as I did. Thank you for making a very dark day lighter.

I'm not a treasure Peter Jones. I didn't type it out again, I just did a new post telling everyone where to find it.

I've lost a few posts. I think it is when we press "submit reply," our finger touches the "cancel". They are very close together. You have to make sure you touch into the right so it misses the cancel sign.

Hope you slept well.

Not here as often as I should, and I SHOULD! Or I would have missed Peter's story. I also loved how you put the cream on your bread - yes, I would have done that. Duh. :-) My parents are going away for a holiday this Friday - a special place where there is all the care they need. Needless to say my mum is already having a nervous breakdown so I'll stay home to help pack (SO MUCH) and make sure they actually leave!!! I feel like a naughty teenager who will have the house to herself....

NannaB profile image
NannaB in reply to Lieve

Whey hey! Are you going to have a party? If you do I wonder if it will like the one our boys had when we left 2 of them for the first time for a week. For weeks after we returned we were hearing from neighbours with stories of what had happened. One couple said they walked past at 8 pm one night and the front door was wide open. All the lights in the house were on and there was a motor bike in our hall. They stood and looked but didn't see anyone so walked on. Our attached neighbour said she shouted out of the window at 3 am telling them to turn the music in the garden down and our pine table had 3 hollows in it where something damaged it, our sons sanded it down and re polished it. We were suspicious when we came home to find a table cloth and flowers on the table.

They did learn a lesson though. They said never again as the next day, everyone left, leaving them to clear up the mess and put all the furniture back that they had removed from the main living area to avoid damage, which in the case of the table, it didn't. I did wonder why all my ornaments in our China cabinet had been moved.

So be careful who you invite and keep the music down......can I come?

Haha, you're just giving me more ideas! Whatever I do will sound so boring now. I'll be happy to just have the place to myself, watch what I want on tv and have some peace & quiet! I may invite people round... and open a bottle of wine. Yes, that really sounds boring now. Let's see if I can find someone on a motorbike to liven up the place.

And you can ALL come!!

That reminds me of a couple of occasions, S and I left the house. One party, (15yrs old party!) we went out for 1/2 hour at 7pm, came home, all lights had been fused, back door broken, beer bottles all up the road. One young couple in one of bedrooms. Needless to say the party ended at 7.31pm!!! another party, they bought several rolls of cardboard and wrapped the house, all the walls and floors. Just a few spots on the ceiling!!! We were not ideal people to live next to, had three teenagers, two who thought they owned the world! (Not mine!!!). Now we just sit and laugh, when they are moaning about their children and if they think I will be quiet, when it come to relaying stories about parties. No chance!!!!

Lots of love

That made me smile. I regularly laugh when our sons tell us of the antics of their sons. Recently we went to see 2 of them in a show with my son and his wife and her parents. When the boys met us afterwards, one of them had steri strips across a cut forehead. My daughter in law told us how it had happened and her mum became very animated saying how awful it was and how he must be careful. I just stood and smiled as his dad had done exactly the same when he was a boy. My daughter in law said, "I know exactly what you are thinking don't I". Her mum had one daughter who was happy to read and play nicely with dolls. When the boys come I read them a bedtime story as we lay on the bed together and they always say, "Nanna B, tell us a story about what daddy did when he was a boy". I do, but at the moment keep it age appropriate!
