I first of all want to thank everyone for there tips posts. Really useful, thank you. Secondly, sorry it took so long. I have just managed to sell the business so the last two weeks have been epickly stressful. F has really suffered. The stress just knocks chunks off him. He went to bed for a nap and when I woke him for dinner at 5pm he thought it was morning and went for a shave.
I had to leave him for a couple of hours. Never again. He just panicked and we all sorts of problems. I had hoped that once he could say he was retired it may help but quite clearly there's no going back. He does accept the wheelchair now but does insist on hanging on to things. I have to be careful in lifts or I pull the chair out from under him. We still do have a laugh. I am hanging on to that and when I can I am recording his laughter. Catch a falling star!

Good for you for catching falling stars. I am usually just catching B. but really I like the recording thing. I think B is a little too far to be able to record. but had I known then what I know now etc etc.
And congrats on selling the business once you relax, F will too. No, there is no going back, but there is creating a new normal, you'll find it .
A new normal I like that. F and I have swapped roles over the last few months and I really preferred it when he was the boss but now we can be more of a partnership with a new calmer normal. Thank you.
No going back. That's very sad and so true. Just in the past two weeks D has gone further downhill. He slurs his words most of the time, incontinence has increased. Staggers around the house. I called again today about the walker. Went to GP yesterday and he was supposed to fax the info to the supplier so the supplier can submit it to Medicare. I told the supplier we need it ASAP. And so we wait.
When you said catch a falling star, it reminded me of the song. Very beautiful. We performed this in one of my choir groups in high school.

We used U-step directly for the walker. With the GP's letter saying it was needed they dealt with Medicare and we got a check for reimbursement pretty quickly, but we did not have to wait for the walker. J recently tried to go down a couple if steps with it, - not good - and the seat frame got bent. They immediately dispatched a new seat with no trouble.
It might be worth trying to switch to them, but you have to pay out of pocket in the first place.
Congratulations on selling the business. It must be a load off your mind. It's a good idea to record laughter and speech. I didn't think of it until it was too late.

Hi, well done for the recording of your husband laugh. S was into videos, filmed everyone of our holiday trips, climbing, hiking and waking all around the world.. I have always used them to watch while I do the ironing! First to look at our adventures, now to catch the odd glimpse of him walking, running, cooking our breakfast over a fire. I was never allowed to near his precious machine. Hearing his voice on the film, clear, firm, full of what ever emotion we were feeling at the time. Remember emotion? Oh for a bit of that!
You are right about stress. Oh boy doesn't PSP love it!!!!
