Cling film around table mat stops plate slipping.
Muslin nappy liners make brilliant napkins (serviettes)
Childs cot mattress as bedside crash mat.
Waterproof mobile phone pouch on rope for call bell button.
Blue tooth headphones for television helps concentration.
Memory foam pillow as cushion works out cheaper and better quality than normal cushion.
Polyester type smooth material body warmers rather than jumpers. Easier to get on/off.
That's just a few. I'm sure we all have handy gadgets we have tried or little short cuts.

Thank you so much, hellebore, for the helpful suggestions. And what a great idea to pass them along and start a train. I'll try to come up with some....if I ever find them!
Oh one thing I did find. You know the dish drying mats that are kind of think and absorbent? I bought several of those to use for D's placemats. The food kind of sticks to them and liquid spills soak in fairly well instead of flowing onto the floor.
We have bought a oven glove where you put hands in each and hang this over the bed so mam can put things that she might need through the night i.e. water with non spill lid, wipes,glasses etc

What can I share to start with? A few weeks back I happened to see and picked up a bundle of painters terry wipes at the big hardware chainstore. They are very cheap, durable and useful for everything, faces and floors! Handy size and they dry quickly. Really great to have a lot on hand, and less expensive than paper towels.
The medical supply store was willing to sell me a removable plastic rim for his plate for $22. I balked at that! We eat out of pasta plates instead, and that works very well, so far.
Thanks for this. Always helpful to hear what others have done. A few months ago I posted that a very handy item I had found was a potato creamer which is brilliant for preparing food for someone who has to have everything mashed or liquidized. From Monday until a few minutes ago our eldest son and our 3 year old grandson were staying with us. Yesterday the little lad was very quiet. I was talking to his dad and for a few minutes we weren't supervising him. We thought he was still in the adjoining room playing with toys. No, he was sitting on the floor in the kitchen with a bowl of strawberries on the floor next to him. He had watched me use the creamer so was preparing strawberries for grandad. Unfortunately the little dish he had to collect the juice was empty apart from splashes but there was a lovely red puddle on the floor, splashes all over the cupboard doors and on his clothes, especially his trousers. It looked like something from a murder scene. He told me he was making grandad's dinner. What a kind little boy!!!!! I told him it was a nice thing to do but he should have asked me first as if he had I would have given him a bigger bowl to collect the juice. I then gave him lots of kitchen towel and told him to clear up the mess on the floor. He did, spreading it even further but he thought it was clean. He finished off with the mop. Later on he helped me smash the veg for his grandad's dinner. Who needs toys?
When my wife started to grip her hands very tightly and couldn't uncurl her fingers a temporary solution was to place a balled up pair of socks in each hand. Eventually purpose made mittens were provided but the socks helped meantime.
A carer took a couple of my wife's more generous skirts and cut and seamed them up the back, making them similar to a surgical gown. More convenient for toiletting but looked normal when seated in a chair.
Shortly after the wet room was installed there was a shortage of shelf space. A carer noticed a CD rack and suggested I mounted it vertically and left a couple of CD cases in at heights to suit the various toiletries etc. It is still there 6 years later!!

if using a hospital bed . tape pipe lagging around the side rails o case of bumping the or getting kegs stuck . I also tape a more door bell to side rail Nr to hand so that John can press to call me I have rather receiving in my bedroomuoatairs along with baby monitor I keep at bottom of bed . I actually. Have two door bell so that I can return the buzz to answer him , nYUsk rolled up towel beneath knees for support in bed or on chair . To stop plates sliding. I use the material you put under ornaments to stop them sliding . I also is it to open bottles or jars . one at the bottom and one to help turn to open .
if you have a cloth rider chair and they are unable to use it themselves I pinned a large safety to the cloth on the top side of the chair and hang remove you don't have to keep bending and won't catch you'd probably foot ,
