dear Stitchandknit

I am so sorry for your loss, but knowing that your mother-in-law no longer suffers will I hope bring some comfort to you and your family.

PSP is indeed a cruel disease, my husband is in his eight year of the condition and for the last 2 hours has been in what I call his "dementia" mode, refusing to eat, demanding to be taken to the hospital, trying to get out of the house, begging me to "do something" for him.

I am at my wits end because there is nothing I can do for him except what I have been doing for the past 7 years, and that is keep him safe, keep him from harm, care for him, bath him, cook for him, feed him, dress him, is this really what he or anyone else who has this bloody PSP should have to endure?

Take care

Hi Dorothy, I know exactly what you are going through as I am in a very similar postion to you, my husband also keeps trying to get up to go out which is now impossible as he cannot stand any longer, he also has a UTI and guess what not any normal UTI but one that is resistant to anti biotics.. his speech is almost non existant which makes him even more frustrated. He has continence problems with the UTI and sometimes I wonder how much longer I can cope watching him deteriorate like this, it truly is a bloody awful disease. Guess all we can do is keep going a day at a timel

I echo your sentiments to stitchandknit although it is a terrible time for her at least the suffering is over, my condolences to you stitchandknit.

Regards

Dear stitchandknit. So sorry to hear of your loss. I have recently lost my lovely dad to CBD having battled for 12 years. They are at peace now. No more suffering. I get comfort now knowing he is enjoying life again with the angels. Thinking of you.

Thanks to you all. I know she is in a far better place, and I feel for all of you that are still and will still have to go through this.

Hi LindaP

Incidentally, is your husband on any medication for his moods? My husband has been prescribed Queitapine, which is an anti-physchotic drug, and he has half the minimum dosage, 12.5mgs daily, with the option to increase the dosage if I think it necessary. On the odd occasions I tried this, the results were disastrous, he was so difficult to handled and I was completely traumatised.

Dear Stitchandknit -

My condolences to you and your family, but as has been said the suffering is now over.

I hope from your name you are able to use craft as a therapy while you adjust to the next stage in your own journey. My good wishes to you, take care.

Dear stitchandknit, so sorry to hear your sad news. Still missing mum after she left us in February, Christmas, her favourite time of year is so close and another sad hurdle to pass. I hope you find inner peace in the knowledge that your mother in law is no longer suffering. Best wishes, Dianne xx

She is at peace, finally. Now grieve and take care of yourself. Think how she would wish you to be and try to get there

Dear Stitchandknit,

Let yourself cry lots -

And think of all the strengths your mother in law had. Cherish that you have known her and use it to benefit your life and all those around you.

My condolences to you at this time. Your mother in law is no longer suffering and you and your family no longer have to watch her suffer not being able to make things better. That to me is the hardest part as a carer. Take your time to rest and grieve properly if you can. Xx
