Well, things don't stay still. They have a way of moving on whether you are ready for them or not. Both fathers have died (my children's and my son-in-law's) this week. Very hard on the grandchildren to lose two grandfathers in one week. My youngest son did have the flesh-eating disease but it is under control now. He is very sick, and understandably upset that his dad just died, but he will recover without any amputations. He will probably have some very visible reminders of the experience for the rest of his life.
My husband's respite experience did not go smoothly at all. We had trouble getting the two new medications he was prescribed while in the hospital and arrived at the nursing home without them. They said they could get them but I've had no confirmation of that even though I brought him home today. While he was there (a scant three days) they managed to clog his feeding tube and had to transport him to the hospital to get it unclogged. Fortunately they did not have to replace it which is somewhat painful because of the part that goes into the jejunum. Also, it was reported that he got "combative" last night and their doctor ordered a medication which has him still asleep 24 hrs. later. Not a good experience, but necessary so I could go see my son.
We have ALL had our problems, but life goes on (or not) and so do we. Thanks for all the support and kind words.

I lost my husband on April 5th after a 4 year battle with the horible, cruel disease that is PSP.
It's been two weeks. A new year starts tomorrow.
