Wanted to post something positive today, and can't think of a better reason. My youngest, Melissa AKA Missy, turns 21 today. My oldest, Katy is still 21; turns 22 on May 30. I love this time of year when they're the same age for 11 days.
She was a "Monday's child...fair of face..." but she was also a 'scheduled' birth. She loves to hear the story of how I felt driving across the High Bridge to the hospital in downtown St. Paul, repeating out loud "Today we're having a baby". Or, "I'm having another baby today". Having it scheduled was surreal.
During Katy's pregnancy, I experienced complications at 26 weeks and was put on bedrest. Slam, down, no work, no get up and pass go. Huge adjustment. The remaining weeks ticked by slowly til she was born 5-30-91. She weighed in at a whopping 5lbs., 1 oz. Teeny tiny. (I was 5-1/2 lbs., Missy was 5lbs, 11oz, so it's just the genes.)
After being on bedrest all those weeks, I stayed in the hospital only 27 hours. Literally, 27 hours. I couldn't wait to get up, go home w/o restrictions and be her Mom....
...however, when Missy was born less than a year later, it was a total reversal of attitude; told them to keep me every minute my insurance would allow
On another happy note regarding Melissa, she just came home from college this week, after returning from a year's break that was very hard on her and unsuccessful. However, this time, her lowest grade was a B, and she made the Dean's List! I am so very proud and inspired by my little Lovely!

Many congratulations to both your lovely girls and well done Melissa for your awesome grades! Keep well Judy!
Melissa no sooner got home from school than scooted down to her boyfriend's house for the weekend; he lives about 40 miles from here. They hadn't seen each other in month's AND celebrating your 21st birthday with MOM & SISTER can't be nearly as much fun than with boyfriend and good friends. So I get it.
We're celebrating her birthday tomorrow, Monday. Had some outdoor stuff planned but it's to be stormy all day with a good chance of tornadoes. It's been raining and storming like crazy since Friday night up here in the Midwest, USA.
Seems to me tomorrow will be a good day to catch a movie instead
Hi Judy, Whatever the weather have a great time. You must have been a geat mum to cope with two babies so close together. More difficult than twins I should think as they would be at different stages. It's good you will see Melissa tomorrow. We live in England but my three boys celebrated their 21st birthdays in Australia, Scotland and Thailand.
Congratulations to you (for doing all the hard work for 21 years!) and your daughter for reaching this wonderful age! I've been following your blogs and can tell how much you love your girls and what an inspiration you must be to them both because of your courage and determination..something that will surely be rubbing off on them and in their genes to ensure they live life to the full. Hope you have a wonderful celebration ...and don't worry about dropping the butter...just don't drop the champagne Tania
Please pass on my best wishes to Missy and Katy for their birthdays. My sis and I are the same age for 11 days too. As the older of the two of us I think I enjoy that time a little more than she does though of course she gets to gloat at the end of it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU MISSY AND KATY
It has taken until now to fully comprehend - yes its taken me 48 years - to fully appreciate my sister Karen and I are the same age for 13 days. (May 27 vs July 10) Hence will be planning something special. Thankyou Judy - for sharing what life is all about!
Regards,
Alana - Western Australia
n.B. Yes - Peter you can have a good laugh at my expense for taking so long!(For info - To fellow Americans & Brits...- there is long standing rivalry between Aussies of the nation - that the west is much better than the east side of Australia - I've described it correctly haven't I Peter??)
