Trimix: Fine line of pleasure and pain?

Hi guys, I’m about 8 weeks after RP surgery and have started using trimix. I have used it twice now. Once with my Dr, only three units, just made me fluffed but not hard. Last night I used 5 units. Got a good reaction, about 70-75% of where it should be. Will try 7 units next time.

It was an achy erection the whole time. Not unbearable pain but it wasn’t as enjoyable as I would have liked. I’d call it an “uncomfortable erection”.

My question is... Does this get better? Will my body adapt? Is there a learning curve? Or do I just try the bi mix instead?

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you.

Alprostadil is the ingredient in tri-mix that causes soreness, but it is also the ingredient that has the biggest effect in producing erections. Because Trimix is made by a compounding pharmacy, they can adjust the percent of alprostadil. You can ask for a lower percent of alprostadil in the next batch. You can also have it made up completely without alprostadil - it is called bi-mix.

This stuff was always too effective for me. I wish I had written down all of the combinations that I tried, but invariably I had erections last beyond 4 hours and had to discontinue use out of fear. Tall-Allen, I’m finally starting RT next Tuesday. Do you recommend going back on tri or bi mix to keep things going, or would this be harmful during radiation? Also, if not harmful, can you provide any guidance on formula?

I think that ED pills will protect your penile blood vessels. I can't think of any reason why trimix would be a problem during radiation.

I was advised that I could alleviate the ache by keeping my penis supported and pointing up as much as possible. In other words, don't let it dangle. (I found it especially bad if I took a post-sex shower and let it hang.) If the erection remains firm after sex wear underwear that holds it vertically until the erection subsides. That advice worked for me and I have shared it before and had positive feedback. I cannot explain why it works, nor guarantee it; I just am happy someone here told me about it years ago and that it worked for me.

Thanks for the advice. Keeping my penis supported and pointing up has definitely helped. I’m still trying to find the right dosage but it’s great to have an erection again.

My experience is very much like yours. I am 14 months post PR and have been experimenting for about 9 months with TriMex and at other times Viagra (on an empty stomach). The TriMex sometimes feels just too strong. The Viagra can help things along at least in getting some hardness without the achy feeling. I have a telemedicine visit with my urologist/penile rehab specialist in two weeks. I intend on raising the question about BiMex. I don't have any new insights to share but wanted you to know that you are not alone in the challenges. It's definitely a work-in-progress, takes some practice, a bit of trial and error, and lots of patience. Michael

Post RP, I have used TriMix at the start (3 months post-op), but the ache was too much...switched to BiMix for about 10 months, but then it decreased in its effectiveness. I went back to TriMix and have tried 3 different levels of potency, and they reacted the same as the BiMix...decreasing potency. I got as high as 50 units...so have stopped with injectibles. Viagra and Cialis give me horrible heartburn for days afterward, and the desired penetration erection effect is short lived. I just got the Eddie device from Giddy (modified penile ring) since I can get a non-useable (i.e. not sufficient for penetration) erection on my own...we'll see if that works/helps get it to the goal and if it has any longevity (I'll write a review after some trials). I'd be interested if anyone else has any other suggestions? Even though on ADT, my interest in the pleasure of sex has not fallen off the cliff (yet).
