Is pain normal?

So, I'm newly diagnosed Gleason 6 on active surveillance. I have had a few episodes of prostate pain in the past, never really knew what it was. Heres the issue. I am 5 weeks post-biopsy and the blood in my semen has finally cleared up. Thank God! As a result, it has been nice to use my prostate again (wink, wink) and not be disgusted. I am noticing that strange pain again in what I think is my prostate. Is that something I should call my doctor about? Is that normal with prostate cancer? I see my Dr in May. Advice?

Probably has nothing to do with prostate cancer. More likely the biopsy needle touched a nerve. It should resolve on its own.

Congratulations for qualifying for AS. I was on AS for 11+ years. In that time there were many improvements in the understanding and treatment of PCa. It also allowed my surgeon 11 more years of experience. I do not regret the decision in the least.

I can be tough at times knowing you have cancer however with careful monitoring it should go well.

As to the pain, as noted a biopsy (hopefully that is how it was diagnosed), it can be an artifact of the biopsy. How long ago was the biopsy? It can also be totally unrelated, as you get older things change. If it becomes of concern talk to your Dr. about it. You should be having regular visits with your Doc.

Good luck going forward.
