Fast PSA Rise

I just got back from vacation and had another PSA test. The time between tests was 3 months and the rise was from 12.79 to 29.5 resulting in a doubling time of 2.5 months. I am waiting for the oncologist to find my records and call back so it will be a while before I get his opinion as to what to do. History 5/2013 diagnosed with gleason 9, one core out of 16. Has ADT for 6 months prior to Brachy and IMRT. PSA started to climb 10/2018. Had Axumin PET?CT scan which showed suspicious sites in prostate and hylar lymph node after a negative prostate biopsy. Really confusing tests etc.

I assume that more ADT will be next. Any suggestions, advise etc?

So it was a false positive at the prostate. Can the hylar LN be biopsied? Yes, hormone therapy seems to be in your future.

strange that the biopsy is negative and the PET/CT was sort of positive but urologist said that biopsies can miss the target. the lymph node is right near my spine and heart? oncologist said it is too risky to do a biopsy. the results would not be worth the risk

i sanded the drywall in the cabin we just bought from our x land partner since i knew that ADT is in the future and I could never do it on ADT. could barely do it today. And no, can not get help. The sanding was after help which only did the easy part Also got the very heavy player mechanism in my new piano so I have no heavy lifting jobs lined up. Will have a winter of reading and listening to the piano.

The PSA number is too high and you don’t want the cancer to go outside prostrate

Did you have a Mri guide biopsy or a blind biopsy ?

Do not delay Gleason of 9

not ignoring this. probably starting ADT in a couple of days. biopsy was ultrasound guided. PET/CT shows that the cancer has metastasized

I sorry to hear that news I hope your near a good surgeon, best not to delay depending if course your age situation and other problems. Regards

i don't think i need a surgeon at this point. i have most likely metastasized cancer that is not only in the prostate so surgery would not solve the problem. also since i had extensive radiation, surgery would be difficult and no one is recommending it.

I saw the oncologist today expecting to be put on ADT. He said that since my PC is just PSA rise and not showing any other symptoms that I should just repeat the PSA test again in three months and then in 6 and do another PET scan in six months. Even though the doubling rate is 2.5 months he feels that it is OK to wait.

Any opinions?
