Minor Incontinence setback, and feelings areound ED

Hey Guys, Just wanted to check in. Its been about 3 weeks since surgery, and about 3 days after catheter removal I posted that wasn't experiencing any incontinence. Well, that has changed slightly. I found the more active I have become in getting back to my life routine the more I have experienced minor leakage. I will confess that I do drink a lot of water and liquids in general. I always have, so I am used to going to the bathroom more than most guys, but I am noticing that while I am asleep, and sudden movements will bring a minor drip. I am not complaining as I think I am fairing very well in light of everything. I do think of ED a lot and I have to continue to remind myself to give myself time to heal and get back to a full sex life again. So grateful I have this platform to vent.

You remind me so much of myself and have since the first post. In respect of the incontinence just remember you are way ahead of the majority. If you try to stay off drinking anything after 7pm it might help night time. I find I’m generally okay sleeping but if I have to pass wind I need to get up or I can wet the bed. Also some things like coffee, alcohol, acid-based or spicy food or drink can irritate the bladder and cause leaking. I understand exactly how you feel about ED but again it can take 1to 2 years for the nerves to recover. There are many things you can try in the meantime. Drugs like viagra help some who still have nerves after the operation. Mine were taken as the cancer had spread locally so I bought a vacuum pump which helps a bit and have an appointment later this month to learn how to inject into the penis which works with over 90% of guys. Try to stay positive cause there are many things you can do to improve things.

Thank you for sharing. My surgery is this Friday. I am little nervous but I’m ok with decision to have surgery as the primary goal is to become cancer free. But it’s the quality of life post surgery that scares me the most. I’ve read your post and that of others and those who have responded to my posts. You are helping me be less anxious and to be patient with myself as I move one day closer and closer to this big day then the rest of my life

That’s the best approach to take. The most important thing is to get rid of the cancer and I have always believed that surgery may lead to a better quality of life after than some other treatments. At the end of the day all we can do is make sure we are aware of all alternatives and then that we have good medical people advising and looking after us.

surgery leaves options should the Cancer return in some form or other Radio therapy hormone or chemo therapy is available to your surgical team .. Stop fretting about "what ifs" you have the rest of your life to get on with

Hello Dream,

Just checking in. It's been a while and I'm wondering how you're doing. Has the incontinence leveled off? What about ED. My RP was in 2011. Although I don't have leaks often, it's disheartening when it happens. On a rare occasion, I will wet myself in the middle of the night. That's the worst! Also on rare occasions I have drips. My ED is the worst. I don't experience climaxing anywhere close to what I did before my RP. I watch porn often because I obsessed with wanting to feel the pleasure of a climax. I fantasize often, wishing I could enjoy the touch and companionship of a man. I keep myself busy with other productive projects as I cannot imagine dating and having to cross the bridge of sharing the measure to which I feel like such a damaged man that no one would want. I'm not feeling sorry for myself. I'm just sharing my reality.

I do hope your outcome is better and you circumstances are improving month by month.
