Hello guys.

This is my first post as I am new to this site. My journey with prostate cancer began when I was diagnosed in May 2017. (I will share the specifics in a following post) To date; I have chosen active surveillance, combined with a variety of natural, complimentary suppliments and a number of dietary changes, while I pursue the best treatment or non-treatment for me. Part of this pursuit has brought me here -I created my profile a couple of weeks ago, but had not posted anything until this AM- I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks in advance for making this venue available, and for any advice, encouragement and support you each might share.

I have a number of questions, thoughts and concerns which I will also post in a following message.

Regards,

K

Hello K, and welcome. I was dx just about the same time as you and opted for prostatectomy because I had a high level of cancer, although not beyond the walls of the prostate. No radiation or other treatment so far, and 8 months or so later I show no sign of cancer. So, I am very optimistic. Now ... the big issue is ED, for which I am being treated, and it is slow going. I am sensing some progress down there, but it is frustrating.

congrats on the good results; may they stay that way! and here's hoping for good progress on the ED...you've still got time for more progress!

Hey K, welcome to the group. Please stay vigilant with your active surveillance. I chose to go ahead with a radical prostatectomy in 2016. Looking forward to hearing your post as to how you arrived at your decision. .......JR

Welcome! I hope you'll get lots of help here. I know sometimes people worry that if they do active surveillance it might be "too late" later. I did active surveillance for several years, and, then when my urologist saw something more "suspicious" I opted for a prostatectomy, and the waiting didn't do any harm, I've been cancer-free since as far as anyone can tell and hope to stay that way.

Welcome K!

I'm Allan and I went the robotic route coming up on 7 years ago and so far I am still cancer free!!! I really do wish I had taken the surveillance route because my husband and I were very active sexually. Obviously my biggest problem now is ED. After all this time my erections are better than I ever really thought they would be again.....not like they were though. Anyways, keep watching and we are all strong, tough guys that have to deal with what is dealt us, stay alive and stay strong!

Welcome. I had SBRT in 2014 and my PSA is down from 5.3 right before treatment (was as high as 6.0) to currently 0.2. There are lots of options out there. Glad you're taking this at a measured, non-frantic pace. I'd like to hear more about the dietary and supplement protocol you're on.
