Does anyone know the true facts about ejaculation? Does frequent ejaculation help to feed our cancer for faster growth or do the new cells help to reduce the cancer growth or is it simply benign act? Google is of no help. I found where it may help prevent getting prostate cancer but nowhere about after already having it!

After you've had surgery for prostate cancer, you can't ejaculate because semen is produced by the prostate and seminal vesicles, which have been removed. After radiation, 95% of men lose their ability to ejaculate too. It's a good reason to stay with active surveillance as long as possible. Ability to reach orgasm is seldom affected by those treatments.

Very true. However is there any verifiable evidence that while on AS, does frequent ejaculation have anything to do with the growth or remission of the cancer? Very happy to have it happen more often as long as it doesn't cause my cancer to worsen!!

Thanks for getting back. The more frequent use of the prostate could produce more stress on the organ weakening it and thereby opening a path for a more rapid cancer growth.

Same question with biopsy.

Does a biopsy overstress the organ enough to promote faster cancer growth.

Our bodies don't work that way - they are designed to be used. It is the opposite - disuse - that is destructive. Lack of use causes atrophy.

Biopsies do not "stress" the prostate. They do not promote faster cancer growth. You can get poked by needles all day long and it won't promote cancer growth. Otherwise, we'd all have cancer in our upper arms and buttocks from all the inoculations we've had.

T_A, two questions for you. If there’s no stress on the prostate why do people suggest you don’t have an orgasm at least two days before a PSA test? Second, to your first comment, why would ejaculation play any part of an AS decision? In my mind, having an ejaculation should not be a basis of a health decision. It’s not like the lack of it makes you less of a man and the same pleasure is there. In fact my wife likes it for a number of reasons

Because at orgasm, the prostate releases its PSA into the semen (PSA helps liquify the semen). That increases the amount of PSA detected in the plasma.

No evidence. Why and how would one study that, and who would pay for the study? Maybe Just accept that it feels good and reject oppressive, puritanical attitudes about physical pleasure and enjoy.

Indeed you are right, we do not speak of its influence once diagnosed. I had informed my urologist and he told me that there was no problem. I had a very long wait between the diagnosis and my surgery and I made the most of it, I was ejaculating almost every day or 2 and my cancer did not spread. I have no regrets to have made the most of it, now my ejaculation is gone and I miss it a lot
