Three months & 10 days after surgery

I had the RP in early January 2019. The post surgery path report was good. I'm still leaking a little...more than I thought I would at this point. I was having good improvement and seem to have reached a plateau. I have really slowed down on the kegels.....I thought that after a while I could stop. Should I keep doing them on an ongoing basis?

Although the leakage continues (relatively minor, but still bothersome), the improvement on the sexual front is going ahead of schedule. I have been going to a urologist who specializes in men's sexual health, and that has been very helpful both emotionally and physically.

Hi Mark,

I did the kegels for a much longer time... I think it still helped me reinforcing the recovery.

I put pads away on month 3 after surgery but moved on doing the kegels for 3 or more months .

All the best for your recovery

Hey Mark. Hi Frank here from Boston. Been trying to get in touch. Check private messages. Sounds like you are doing well

All muscles need exercise. If you slack off on pelvic floor exercises your pelvic will slack off on you. Glad you found a mens health center; we have a good one here in Providence.

Mark,

I still do kegel exercises every night before I fall asleep, even after 14+ years!

Without a prostate, you may have to do them forever.

Congrats on the 14+ years sans prostate. Can you share your ED story over those years?

Hi Mark,

Something that I think may be helpful to control leakage is NOT allowing your bladder to control you. I read this somewhere years ago and have been following that advice ever since. I rarely have any problems even if I have to go very badly. We often drive up to Bangkok for the day and prior to returning home my companions visit the restroom and ask me if I have to go. Even if I have the urge, I usually refrain from going since I want to teach my bladder to wait for me. It is normally about an hour and a half trip and it seems that the greater the urge, the less of a chance of leaking...at times I am even in pain by the time we get home without losing a drop. About the only time I experience any leakage is in the gym while pushing/pulling fairly heavy weight, or occasionally I may lose a drop or two while squatting down on the floor while doing some kind of repair job that has my undivided attention. I never have any leakage during the night; however, I usually wrap the 'little guy' in a Kleenex Lotion Tissue or Puffs Plus (both have aloe lotion which keeps them from falling apart) retained by a 'tiny' rubber band. Actually, I have been doing this for about 45 years since I never wanted my wife to be subjected to any staining on my shorts while doing the laundry...losing a drop is quite common if you're in a hurry to put 'him' back in your pants after urinating. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Best,

Ron
