Can’t Get Off Floor - dehydration

Thad went down by the bed when he tried to go to the bathroom. He was also very confused. I couldn’t get him up. I called 911 for a lift assist and the responders were so helpful. But him hadn’t been drinking enough fluids in the heat. I’m down at Starbucks getting a Vente Pink Drink.

That had to be so scary. Glad that the first responders were helpful. Enjoy that pink drink, you have earned it. You guys are lucky to have each other. Keep fighting on!

That's scary I know. I've had to call for assistance too. Hubby doesn't like to use his walker. It can be frustrating being a caregiver. Glad it was dehydration and nothing worse. Even though dehydration can also be serious. Hang in there!

I am happy to read Thad didn’t get seriously hurt from his fall. I have several yetis full of ice water station around my house so I have easy access to plenty of fluids. That seems to help me.I received good News a week ago, and have since traveled to SCCA in Seattle for a PSMA scan and am now being scheduled to start the LU-177 treatment August 23. With my psa climbing near 200 I was getting desperate for a new treatment.

That’s great news!!! That’s where we are going. The only advice I can give you is to be prepared for the possibility of pain from inflammation. Thad was walking around the day before but the morning after treatment needed a wheelchair. It took about a week to get the pain under control. But other side effects were much lower than the chemo side effects. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you and thanks for sharing such great news.

I am the type of life to plan ahead, and I haven’t received a confirmation on the August 23 date but I’m sure it is coming. Even for the PSMA scan they were a bit slow on the confirmation.Could you fill me in on what takes place the day of the procedure and the days following? I don’t seem to find a consistent information on those first 3 to 5 days. Thank you best of luck with prayers continued for Thad.

I wrote a long response, it was lost. They will be scheduling a doc intro and nurse education shortly. You can look at my other posts on the main webpage that has the details. Here’s something that might help.

One day 1, he had labs, meeting with Doctor, and scan. On day 2, they did the infusion. It didn’t take long. We spent the night in a suite so he was in a separate area. He did have quite a bit of pain that night and the next day. Bring pain meds. You may not need them, but just in case. He also felt weak so we did the valet parking on day 3. Day three was a quick scan without contrast. Luckily we were given a medical ferry pass so we could jump part of the line. Otherwise we would have been waiting for hours. Hope this helps.
