F3 Fibrosis Regression
hi all First post and have to say, read a lot of posts and can only thank everyone who contributes and helps educate others about their own personal way forward. So here is my question. How long does it realistically take ( with doing everything possible ) to regress from F3 severe fibrosis to F2?

care options for H.E and decompensated cirrhosis
Hey, hoping for some advice on care options for someone suffering with cirrhosis and H.E My dad was diagnosed this January, but clearly quite late on - he has since had 4 hospital admissions due to severe (stage 3) H.E and one time he went into coma (stage 4). This latest admission lasted 2 weeks

A medical professionals responsibility
Last year before Christmas I had a routine blood test that showed a reduced platelet count. Went from 160 18 months ago to 139. I had been going though a period of very heavy drinking (day and night) in the two months prior to the test. I went to see the Doctor as he called and asked me to come in that

hi I received ultrasound results although not sure what they mean and no follow up arranged. . Can anyone advise? Cirrhosis - cryptogenic/Azathioprine-induced Ultrasound shows features in keeping with stable cirrhosis; with a splenomegaly (15cm), but no focal lesions and no ascites. Your most recent

NMN supplement help cirrhosis?
Hi, I have been diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis in June 23, now in a compensated state with bloods improving every time. I have been abstinent since diagnosis. I do a lot of physical exercise and have been told it’s safe for me to take whey protein. I am very conscious of what I take and have

Diagnosed with Non Alcohol Cirrhosis
Hi everyone, I was recently diagnosed with stage 2 non alcoholic cirrhosis and am having a lot trouble accepting my diagnosis. It could be because my dad died of alcohol cirrhosis 21 years ago and I know how bad it can get. I have very few symptoms right now and am just being monitored. I know my prognosis

Diet suitable for NAFLD cirrhosis and type 2 diabetics.
Hi, I have been diagnosed with cirrhosis through NAFLD. I have no idea what diet or where to find a diet suitable to follow. Being type 2 doesn't help either. Need carbs for liver, carbs no good for diabetics. Fats such as butter bad for my liver, what should I spread on bread? etc. What should I eat

hello, I’ve been lurking on the site for around 7 months, since my OH was hospitalised in August and we found he had liver cirrhosis. It’s been a challenging few months and he’s been medically retired from work now. We are trying to live life as fully as we can, within his limitations, as many

G P telephone consultation
My GP rang to review my blood tests. All were normal apart from an elevated GGT. It has been elevated for a long time which is why I was referred for a Fibroscan and this scan showed Cirrhosis (17kpa). As I have mentioned previously this was alarming news as I had never drank and had a lower BMi.

Cirrhosis Reversal Question
I had HCV and was successfully treated and have been HCV free for around 8 years. At that time I was diagnosed with Cirrhosis , platelets around 64 000 , enlarged spleen , fibroscan at 22.1. I have been checked routinely by very good hospitals. My last 3 fibroscans have improved each time .first

Is it fair to keep cirrhosis a secret from family?
Hi, I just learned a parent has stage 4 liver cirrhosis. Some family has known for a year that tests were borderline and this was a possibility. This parent has been sober for over one year and is walking 1-2 miles a day. We’re told it’s compensated stage 4 and he could have anywhere from one year to

cirrhosis and statins
I’ve not asked for help on here before and would really appreciate any advice. I have alcoholic cirrhosis and am being recommended statins for cholesterol by my practice nurse. I’m a 57 year old UK male. The information sheet from the nurse session warns not to take statins if you have cirrhosis. I’m

LFT Results - Help
I have had some tests done recently and I was expecting the liver would be an issue. I have been a heavy drinker for quite some time. I had full bloods done which were all fine. Electrolytes were also fine. The doctor said my LFTs were abnormal, I asked if it indicated Cirrhosis and he said he didn't

Should we worry?
mum is on large doses of lactulose and diuretics and has been feeling very unwell all day. She hasn’t been able to open her Bowles at all, and seems very confused. is this an A&E job?

cirrhosis analogy
Happy New Year to all! I saw my primary care doc yesterday for my annual exam, after seeing my Hepatologist in August. Both said all of my bloodwork is normal, albeit slightly low platelets. 130’s-140’s. I asked my primary care about 1) possible worsening, 2) measurement of fibrosis (fibroscan)

How quickly can cirrhosis worsen.
Hi allI was diagnosed 2 years ago with compensated cirrhosis, portal hypertension, no ascites and 3 small varices that didn't need treatment. Everything was jogging along without change, no worse, no better. But, here it comes, I've had a bad time just lately, my husbands dementia is worsening and I'm

Private fibroscan?
Hi. I posted last week, the surgeon performing my laprascopic gallbladder surgery has seen fibrotic changes in my liver about 4 weeks ago. My most recent LFT'S (in April) were largely normal, bilirubin raised slightly (consistently for years) alongside slightly low platelets and slightly raised mean
