Hi Jaclyn! Did you meet your fiancé because of the shared history of transplant?
Hi Rebecca! We actually met almost 7 years ago at a bar in Denver. He was there for work and is from California while I was there for fun and I’m from New Mexico. We randomly started talking, became Facebook friends and I didn’t speak to him until after my transplant! At the time of meeting him I had no idea about my kidney failure. He has a congenital heart defect, but didn’t need a heart transplant at the time. Somethings are definitely meant to be we’ve been together 4.5 years and we are getting married in May
Hello Jaclyn. My 13 yr old daughter was born with a CHD. She had to have a heart transplant at age 6; that was 7 years ago.
Best wishes to you and your fiancé. When’s the wedding? ❤️
Congratulations to both! What problems did you encounter right after kidney transplant? I'm just beginning the process...training class end of month. Thanks.
Honestly, my biggest battle to this day is my weight. It’s really hard for me to lose weight and keep it off. Are you on dialysis now?
Yes, peritoneal. Neither dialysis nor diabetes make it easy to lose weight. I walk at the Y & do the chair yoga. Reducing serving size of meals helps, but I have to be careful about low blood sugar & low blood pressure (mornings usually). Thanks for your post! So glad to hear your surgery went well.
Wonderful! There is always hope for all of us.
Wow, two amazing stories come together as a loving pair. Congratulations to you both and happiness always. What stories you can both write about individually and as a couple regarding your respective transplants. An inspiration to one and all. Brava.
What a beautiful and inspiring story Jaclyn. All the best!
Congratulations on your 5 year kidney anniversary! And how wonderful to have so many family members involved in the world of transplantation. Wishing good health to all of you!
