Amazing tulip 🌷

Has anyone else got this wonderful tulip in their garden? I posted it last year. It just arrived completely on its own. A muntjac got in and ate all the other tulips, but this one was by the house so escaped luckily. Whole garden is fenced against the muntjac but it gets underneath somewhere πŸ€”β˜ΉοΈ

It looks a bit like a Parrot tulip but more exotic/flamboyant. πŸ™‚πŸŒ·

I was thinking bananas and raspberry coulis, but you are right Dovedale it’s more like raspberry ripple ice cream. πŸ™‚πŸ‘

All I have are boring red ones🀣

My tulips

They aren't boring MB, they're lovely. Looking down on them like that they look a little bit like field poppies which I absolutely love. x

MadBunny profile image
MadBunny in reply to springcross

Yes they do I suppose. They started out as plain red but over the years some of them have developed yellow streaks.

I had some doubles a couple of years back which looked like beautiful double roses, but they now look like singles and have changed colour slightly too. Weird how they do that isn't it.

MadBunny profile image
MadBunny in reply to springcross

Yep. I also remember buying a packet of bulbs in assorted colours in Amsterdam. They all turned out yellow🀣

springcross profile image
springcross in reply to MadBunny

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The problem is you have to wait until they flower, then it's too late and too far to take them back! 🀣🀣 By the way, my avatar are those double tulips I was just telling you about, they were white, pink and like a purply colour.

They are solitary apart from mating. They are ugly with a lump on their forehead. They originally escaped from Woburn Abbey and there are a lot around here. They love certain flowers especially tulips and roses. Such a nuisance.

Wow, that's beautiful Diana, never seen one like that before.

It's the only uneaten tulip. But quite a beauty.

in reply to diana1998

It really is a beauty, shame it's the only one that survived.
