Amazing tulip ๐ŸŒท

Has anyone else got this wonderful tulip in their garden? I posted it last year. It just arrived completely on its own. A muntjac got in and ate all the other tulips, but this one was by the house so escaped luckily. Whole garden is fenced against the muntjac but it gets underneath somewhere ๐Ÿค”โ˜น๏ธ

Beautiful, and such striking markings diana. ๐Ÿ™‚

Just love it

It looks a bit like a Parrot tulip but more exotic/flamboyant. ๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŒท

Think you're right ๐Ÿ‘

Oooh diana, that's absolutely beautiful. Makes me think of strawberries and cream ๐Ÿ˜‹ I've made myself feel hungry now! Do you know the name of it?

I don't know the name. I must do some research! It's so unusual.

It really is isn't it! Just lovely. xx

I've just found this which looks quite similar although not exactly the same:

vanengelen.com/flower-bulbs...

Just gorgeous ๐Ÿ’

Yes, Arenโ€™t they gorgeous, I had some last year but theyโ€™ve not come out yet this year, I donโ€™t know what they are called either ๐Ÿ‘ if you find out do let me know

Red and orange tulip

Brilliant aren't they and unusual too

Yes, I canโ€™t even remember where I bought them, are yours out this year yet, mine are just budding

Only got that lonely one this year. ๐Ÿค”

Wow, that is really beautiful and striking! It makes me think of raspberry ripple ice cream! Thank you for sharing.

I was thinking bananas and raspberry coulis, but you are right Dovedale itโ€™s more like raspberry ripple ice cream. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

Yes, bananas and raspberry coulis also, Rachmaninov. It's certainly very unusual and beautiful ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

All I have are boring red ones๐Ÿคฃ

They aren't boring MB, they're lovely. Looking down on them like that they look a little bit like field poppies which I absolutely love. x

Yes they do I suppose. They started out as plain red but over the years some of them have developed yellow streaks.

I had some doubles a couple of years back which looked like beautiful double roses, but they now look like singles and have changed colour slightly too. Weird how they do that isn't it.

Yep. I also remember buying a packet of bulbs in assorted colours in Amsterdam. They all turned out yellow๐Ÿคฃ

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ The problem is you have to wait until they flower, then it's too late and too far to take them back! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ By the way, my avatar are those double tulips I was just telling you about, they were white, pink and like a purply colour.

Beautiful. And so exotic.

They are solitary apart from mating. They are ugly with a lump on their forehead. They originally escaped from Woburn Abbey and there are a lot around here. They love certain flowers especially tulips and roses. Such a nuisance.

It really is a beauty, shame it's the only one that survived.
