A tiny musical fund raiser

While rooting around on YouTube last night I came across a rather sweet little video.

I'm not really a great follower of 'cute' kids but this little angel struck a chord, in part because the song she sings is so precious to me, for personal reasons. Over the years I've heard versions which have mangled it beyond recognition to sweet and meaningful ones which really are really heartfelt and moving.

And this version sits somewhere in between, being entirely innocent as well as very sweet. It's a four year old singing 'Danny Boy', and she's been offering downloads of this old traditional Irish song for donations to the Laura Lynn Irish Children's Hospice in Dublin.

If you like it, there's another very sweet offering of 'Somewhere Out There' which the tot did when she was three!

I'm not a bit surprised that you have Irish ancestry Mandy, as you share that slightly fey quality that we Irish all seem to have, being musical and open to the mysterious. One of the other things I love to do on YouTube is to listen to the stories of the faeries and the other mystical people who inhabit the island. I'll take a look in the video for the face on the cliff! Hope you're enjoying a great sunny day today... and Pixie too of course!

I enjoyed her sweet interpretation of Danny Boy but I also loved seeing the scenery of beautiful Ireland. I have Irish ancestry but, sadly I have never visited Ireland. Thanks for posting the video, it was charming.

This is lovely and the song is precious to me too as it reminds me so much of my dad - he used to sing it to me when I was little and every time I hear it now I always think of him. I was told several years ago by my late brother that we have Irish ancestry too though I don't know anything about it at all. Thanks for sharing it.

Beautiful Sue, I watched this on YouTube last evening while searching for Irish Country music.... I’m a long time fan of the .... Fury’s and Davy Arthur..... and Catriona O’Donovan

That was absolutely beautiful, the innocence. What a very special little girl.💜🌺😊

Emma Sophia sang this beautifully. What an amazing little girl she is. Let's hope we hear more of her. Thank you Don👍
