My Shower is STILL 'Up The Creak', so I have had to Wash my Hair.... the 'old 'fashioned way', in other words Over The Kitchen Sink.
I cleared 'everything' out the way, before running a bowl of warm water. Next I filled the sink itself, in a similar way. I then put a towel, close to me, before pouring water over my hair- using a suitable plastic jug.
I then shampooed, rinsed using the since water, rewashed, rinsed- again with the sink water- before emptying the sink and using the water from the bowl. I then Grabbed the towel, part dried my hair, before combing it and continued the drying.
Finally I opened my eyes.... Not too much water/ subs around... mainly on the floor- the clean floor! (did it yesterday afternoon) so I put the towel down and 'mopped up'. I have a few 'bits' to rinse through anyway, so I'll put the towel in too.
Overall, quite successful, especially for a First Attempt.

Not unusual to me- my husband still washes his hair with a jug. Your comment reminded me of when I was my a kid and mum used to bath the little ones in the kitchen sink
HiAndrew,I take it your male? you seem to have some bother washing your hair,what about people with longer hair ,mainly women,, how do you think they would manage,im only jesting cos my hairs grown and I have never had this legnth ever and obviously need a hair stylist another story-----even in the shower ,its ver y difficult,not knocking you just saying!!
Our son's hair is a mass of curls so you can imagine how long he is in the shower!!! He had it cut fairly short when we were last allowed to see a hairdresser!! It is thick and grows quickly. Mine is short and thick but it gets to s certain length and I start to look like a scarecrow 🤣😂 xxxx
Mine has never been so long,and I have decided its not me ,straight hair ,not much body,tell your son I will swop him ,like curly hair though can imagine it getting unmanageable --2hairdressers couldnt understand what to do with my hair ,my anxiety levels were too high to tell them ;so im a pensioner and thats what you get !!
It must be hard to manage. My son's grows to a certain length then it just grows out instead!!!Your hair dressers sound like they hadn't had much training, it must have been annoying that they didn't know what to do!!
We have a mobile hairdresser ( not working at the moment) who is fantastic!! She is our friend as well. We are so lucky to have her.
hi,again,yes,you are very lucky to have a mobile hairdresser ,and a friend,used to have one too few years ago, but arthritis,she couldnt visit..hairdresser,was ok until 4th time I mentioned the word short and sort of indicated,before I knew it shed lopped off the back and left the long hair at sides-----then I tried to explain this to this new hairdresser who instinctively didnt like me and vice versa-----when your really struggling with severe Anxiety and a person ,that was annoyed and tried to blame me ,its knocked my confidence though I am gaining strength,I need to get it off my mind--sorry for the rant....in the end I told her to blend the hair together -I cant even remember how it appeared,😄😆😅🙃🙃
I really feel for you. Our hair dresser is absolutely fantastic and a great friend too. She can't work due to lockdown at the moment. It's very hard isn't it?I've sent you a pm xxxx
THanks its a relief telling someone who understands,its my 75th birthday coming up in under a week,will just have bide my time for hairdressers to open,,,rather have curly difficult hair lol😇
I remember that! We used to use the laundry tubs in the cellar and a long handled pot. We were so excited when we got a rubber sprayer that hooked up to the faucet! Those were the days.
Welcome to the old days when I was young! Washing hair was three choices - in the bath, over the sink or a hose attachment to the taps. I think when I was little we had to dry our hair naturally then in the 60s my mother got a drier with a plastic hood! My mother used to have a weekly shampoo and set. Otherwise it was foam curlers at night and there was some foul smelling blue stuff that was supposed to keep the hair curl. I believe women with long hair used to iron it dry to keep it straight!
Being a Military Veteran, you get used to short hair in the military..... I’ve had short hair since my Military Service ended in 1977..... at 77, I still have my full head of hair, and find it very easy to wash, and my hair dresser is my lovely wife, but I can remember as a boy, my mum used to wash my hair in our tin bath, with carbolic soap.....👍🙂
Ha. I had a leaky toilet for a couple of years and because I put off and off getting it sorted it ended up having to turn the water on once a day and filling up kettles and bottles of water. I didn't even have any hot water either. So I boiled kettles and washed my hair and me in the bathroom sink but I did get used to it I guess.
My bathroom floor rotted too to add to my woes so I was walking on joists. Around 2 months ago I finally got it done and a new floor. Because my bathroom suite was so old and it had to come out anyway I bought a brand new one and included a shower over the bath.
Life is so much easier now with a modern flush toilet and I can use my washing machine again which is fantastic.
Ah Don the secret is to take the best of the past and the best of the future. Do you wish there was no such thing as the internet for example? Or mobile phones?
We look back on the past through nostalgic eyes and going back there wouldn't be as we fondly remember it to be. x
I agree. My Mum and Dad used to say there were good and bad times and good and bad people. My Mum said there were a group of brothers who lived near them who would steal from anybody. Yes, I know there are a lot of bad people now but also some very good people too. I think social media has a lot to do with what goes on as well. Xxxx❤️💜❤️💜
its not unusual ,i always wash my hair in the kitchen sink,with a towel handy ,the shower does'nt do it for me.
It just goes to show when you do it over the sink how easy it is to wash hair in the shower. It's difficult for me to wash hair in the sink as we rarely have our hot water turned on so it's freezing cold.
I thought that you were going to say that you found a convenient waterfall - up some creek!I think I have more hair on my chin than on the top of my head - and I wash my beard in the sink every morning.
If you pulled the kitchen table up to the sink, could you get most of you head under water?
