Upon entering the New Year 2021 remember to not be afraid to take risks, think outside the box and move out of your comfort zone. Are you growing if you're too comfortable? Always wondered what people thought of that.

Keep moving forward and remember it's okay to take steps back too. It's how we learn and grow. Love the people you love and keep more friends than enemies. Be kind and thoughtful to yourself and other's.

My biggest hope for a New Year is that COVID's butt is finally kicked out of the 🌍 it takes no more lives and that my Blessings for to those who've lost close ones to any disease including covid can start to adapt to their losses and slowly move forward. You never forget, you adapt. My hope is that those currently suffering with covid survive. ❀️

Love your life. It may not be perfect but it's your's so love the path you walk and have the guts to out yourself on another path if you need to.

HiWe are planning to go on zoom with our son and his girlfriend and also Mike's girlfriend too. We hope to zoom some more family plus friends and then watch the fireworks. I do hope the fireworks are only from about midnight for an hour or less so that all the animals and the many people who are nervous of fireworks. Pity they don't just sell the ones we used to have as kids and have display ones in a park nearby but don't tell anyone where they are doing them. Why?!?! Hi Luna_Child, I don't make New Year resolutions as I feel that it puts pressure on which tends to make you fail. So I spread mine out through the year. I'm still prone to breaking them, but I don't then feel like quite such a failure!😊

Tillymay those are hobbies. Skin care and health topics are hobbies you could get involved with areas in that. It takes some research into those topics. Walking a walking group meeting in different places, art, ceramics, bird watching, google Hobbies I can try. Try different ones.

Good question, Luna! As a perpetual list maker and planner, I used to fill pages with ideas for New Year's Resolutions...because there were so many, I became overwhelmed with the number, hadn't prioritized them and soon gave up entirely.

However, the single self-challenge I set for myself for the year of 2019 proved successful. With filled closets and drawers, I wanted to see if I could go the entire year without buying a single additional piece of clothing, shoes or jewelry. It worked!

Fluffing my feathers for that achievement, I set a goal of 3 walks/week on specific days (Tues/Thurs/Sat) because after the loss of my beloved 4-legged walking companion, I'd found it very difficult to take walks alone. This proved harder than the 2019 challenge but with one more day of 2020 and one more walk to take, I plan to carry this discipline forward into 2021. The discipline required rather than the length or number of steps made this one far harder to reach because I can so easily procrastinate about some tasks.

During this last year, I became lax about sorting through, discarding and recording paperwork needed for accountant and income tax filing so added a new challenge: Setting a timer for 30 mins and stopping when the timer went off, I set Mon/Wed/Fri to tackle some of the paperwork. Stopping when the timer goes off is important for me because I can tend, once started, to keep going until reaching burn out. Alas, I haven't succeeded here as consistently and "excused" the lapse with prep for the holidays.

I've been thinking for a few weeks about a new challenge for 2021. My first choice is to see if I can re-teach myself to knit. I used to enjoy making simple hot pads and slipper socks to share with friends and nursing homes. However, arthritis in my right hand and particularly thumb, may mean I may need to set something more achieveable. I have the basket of yarn, needles and instr. manual out but have yet to see if I can handle the needles.

So I'm contemplating a "back-up" challenge if this doesn't work. If it does, I may pursue this one, too. Some observe "meatless Mondays" and I'm considering setting no added sugar and no added salt 2 days/week as a challenge. Diagnosed with both pre-diabetes , high b.p. and kidney disease, I began restricting meats, sugar and salt with the diagnoses but would like to double down on the sugar and salt because they are easy to ignore.

As with the past too many N.Y. resolutions, I tended to make too many and too lengthy "to do lists". A few years ago, I found that jotting down just three achievable "to-do tasks" for the next day in a spiral notebook not only works but also gives me a quick "starting point" each day.

Anyone else else up for sharing a self-challene for the New Year???

Wow! I'm stuck on how did you not buy 1 piece of clothing for a year???!!! I need that but we're there certain things you could buy and treat yourself to ie blush etc...? I'd love to do an eating challenge but when I get anxious I lose my appetite, so basically I need one decent meal for each day. I rarely eat a full meal except for weekends I may have 1 each day. I'm not a breakfast eater unless I'm at a restaurant. I have to tweak this somehow or I'll be setting myself up for failure so I'll have to figure this out. .

Like you, I also lose my appetite when stressed or anxious and have never been an early morning breakfast person.

This has become more problematic for me after unintentially losing 30 lbs over the past year. Unexplained and undiagnosed (despite tests and scans) nausea and lost appetite has resulted in my continuing efforts to regain.

Taking myself off of Metformin after a few months and adding ginger products did stop the nausea. However, I still struggle with weight gain. Adding some more caloric foods, approved for my health conditions, and making myself eat a few more bites than wanted at meal and healthy snack times has added 8 pounds but my BMI is still too low.

Changes are hard for me at anytime and changing diet and meal patterns was particularly difficult for me in the beginning. Making small and gradual changes seem to work best for me in any undertaking because I tend to feel more anxiety about the "small stuff" than most others I know.

Your "blush" idea brought a laugh because I stopped wearing any "artificial beauty" in early March with my self-quarantine and wearing of the masks. Until, that is, I got all dolled up in the spirit of the holidays to share with friends and family and produced some "out of make-up practice" photos with applying make up, early outrageous morning hair, and every X-mas adornment I could find to add to my X-mas sweater! Truly fetching results!!!

While I am very good at treating & rewarding myself for completing dreaded tasks, methinks I'll be needing to toss out all of my expired make-up and starting over when we become maskless again! Thanks for the chuckle!!
