My mom may be the next gordon ramsay .today my mom made rice with purple cabbage it’s so good .she’s the chief in the kitchen of course . I Brag about my moms cooking because i am in awe with her cooking .I mean i call her a chief and she deserves the name .my mom never fails to surprise me . she also makes the best desserts my favorite is her lemon meringue pie. i told her that if she cooked in a restaurant then her food would be high in demand especially the lemon meringue pie . so heavenly good my moms cooking skills have been passed on by her mom who sadly died of cancer when my mom was in her teens . She always says that she watches her mom cook all the time and learned from it . I wished that I could meet her mom . She has got her cooking hands 💕 In Algeria there really wasn’t anyway of treating cancer . the saddest thing is that she died in her sleep .

Hi Hb2003, it's lovely of you to praise your mom's cooking and to appreciate it so much. Being a good cook is a very skilled thing. Food cooked well brings so much comfort as well as nourishment. It's sad that you didn't know your mom's mom, but, in a way you do know her, because your own mom learned so much from her mom. She will also have some of her character traits and it helps to keep her memory alive when you think that this is how your own mom learned her skills in the kitchen.

Sweet

You are just the sweetest daughter, gushing over your mom like that! I love it ❤️

I understand your longing for your grandmother. Both of my dad's parents died before I was born. My dad's father died in his sleep of a heart attack. My dad's mother had breast cancer and my dad had to make the very difficult decision of 'pulling the plug' to end her suffering. She died in her sleep too. They both lived in Fiji and died before the 1980s so medical care was not what it is today.

I wish I could have met them. My dad is such a wonderful man that I would have loved to have known the amazing people who brought him into this world and raised him. But the cool thing is that even though we never knew the source, we know the result- we know the fruits of our grandparents' labor. Through our parents, we know our grandparents, and that's pretty neat 😊

I’ll have to make rice and purple cabbage now! I love lemon meringue pie! I make it with a super tarty home made lemon filling, with lemon zest, crust made with Crisco, and a 6” high meringue on top, just like my Mom used to make!!

Yummy i bet it tastes delicious

Hi I watched my mam she is a great cook I ended up been a cook in a residential home and I hadn't been to college I just had experience as a steak chef and I never cooked steak for myself ever my sister thought me as she employed me in the pub as she was in charge she said I was a natural and I think you can learn to do something and get a skill or sometimes you just can do it sometimes we just need to give ourselfes a push, you can cook like your mum as it's inherited in you I can tell, the great chef James Martin said he was rubbish at everything except cooking it's kind of a instinct on timing sometimes too and how to nurture the food so it's nice and I used to mix the flour by hand in the care home I got the job as I said I cook bake xx the best naturalist way to die is in sleep they don't want loved ones seeing them die and I've heard a lot wait until there alone 🌟

That's really sad Hb and like your mother was probably in awe of her mother, so you are of yours, that's history repeating itself in a way and you speak very respectfully of your mother too, good on you.

Hi Hb

What a fantastic accolade to your mum, that's so lovely. What a lovely relationship you have with your mum. I'm so sorry your nan died of cancer but she obviously passed the cooking skills on.
