Hi all

I've completed my week of research for IBS. I wore a pulse and heart monitors for the week, filled in various surveys through the day using an app I had to download and also you have to fill in other bits and pieces, I won't go into too much informationπŸ˜‰.

What I was surprised about were what you can suffer with with IBS, they are (there are the obvious ones of course):

1. Abdominal pain

2. Intestinal Gas

3. Rumbling Tummy

4. Bloated

5. Urge to open bowels

6. Feeling sick (this is one I had most days before I started the Low Fodmap diet)

7. Burping

8. Heartburn

9. Feeling full

10. Feeling an urgent need to open bowels

11. Straining when opening bowels

12. Bowels not completely empty

13. Palpitations

14. Sweating

15. Short of breath

16. Dizzy

17. Muscle pain

18. Hurting joints

19. Urge to urinate

20. Anxious

21. Feeling low

22. Irritated

23. Stressed

24. Worried

I hope this helps and if anyone else would like to take part, here is the relevant information:

Here's the paragraph that was in the IBS Network August edition:

Participants wanted for IBS research

Researchers at Queen Mary University of London are looking for people with IBS to take part in a new study, evaluating a new mobile application for symptom registration in IBS.

The study involves recording your symptoms on a mobile app and wearing a wristband device for seven days. All information will be anonymous and treated confidentially.

You may be eligible for this study if you suffer from IBS and if you are aged between 18 to 70 years old and have a Smartphone.

On completion of the study, you will be compensated Β£50 for your time. If you would like further information, please email Dr Rabia Lalani at r.lalani@qmul.ac.uk.

I'm also going to post this on the IBS Forum.

Have a good day all and stay safe and well.

You are welcome, just goes to show that a lot of doctors know very little about this condition. Mind you, I think more and more is coming out now about what symptoms there are.πŸŒˆπŸ‘

Glad you got to participate. I know it seems like every one those things you listed it seems like I have. πŸ™

Oh I'm so sorry for you. The Low Fodmap diet has helped me a lot. I hope you find something.πŸ™

I was just looking last for a place doing research so I could volunteer for it. They have like five or six of them. So hoping to get I to one.

Dr Rabia Lalani is certainly looking for more participants.

I really do hope you can get some kind of respite from all your symptoms.

I'm from US. So prob wouldn't be able to do it from here.

in reply to

Unfortunately you can't, sorry I should have said it's only the UK.

Well done Alicia and I hope your contribution will help with new research to help!πŸ™πŸ˜Š

Hi I have got a lot of them luckily not all at once yes we are very much ruled by our gut I'm going on that gut diet I told you about to stop the lining from getting torn it's surprising how many foods are bad that we think good according to that video I saw hope you have a nice night I'm tired out but that's due to waking up early and coming on here lol πŸ˜πŸ†πŸš΄it was great on the elec bike but it's got faulty breaks we can't sort them so taking it apart and packing up for Monday😭 pickup I'll get one from a bike shop xxx

in reply to

I'm glad you've not got all of them, it's surprising how much there is.

Please let me know how you get on with the gut diet. I've forgotten but did you see it online or find a book?

Glad it was good on the bike, hope you get another one with ease.

Hope you have a better night.

in reply to

Thank you Mandy, that would be good. I know you've mentioned Quora before. The gut is so complicated.

Thank you Jerry, let's hope from working with others they get a clearer picture longer what they're dealing with and how to treat it.

Hmm, I may have gone out power walkingπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸŒˆπŸ‘
