A lovely brief woodland walk

Hi all

We had the grandchildren overnight and once they'd gone this afternoon I suggested making the most of the day weather.

Hope you've all had a good day.

Alicia🌈😊🌻🌳

Hi Alicia, I’m just wondering if you had to make any special arrangements for your GCs’ sleepover. Since she was born we’ve had weekly sleepovers with our GD, she is seven, and we were due to have her little brothers (4) as well, picking up from school on Fridays. Obviously that all went out of the window in March and our contact was limited to facetime. On Monday I couldn’t bear social distancing with them and my daughter any longer and had them sitting on my lap and hugging - we were all wearing masks, but when school starts again I just can’t see that it will be safe because children have no concept of distancing of any kind. I read that there’d been an outbreak at a school in Dundee, just days after opening. Call me cynical but I think the return to school policy has as much to do as getting parents back to work as any other reason out there. Covid hasn’t gone away, it is still as dangerous and we are still vulnerable

Hi Coco

I've got no special arrangements at all. I can understand how you missed your grandchildren during the lockdown and I can see why you saw them on Monday. As soon as we were allowed to meet up in a bubble as a family I saw our grandchildren, I couldn't wait any longer.

We might have to agree to disagree I'm afraid as whilst I agree with you that Covid hasn't gone away we can't keep the children away from school any longer, I personally think it'll do more damage to their health both mentally and physically, children need children and they need to run around and play with each other. Our daughter and son-in-law is happy to send their eldest back to school and for their youngest to start school even though the youngest one has JIA and is on immuno suppresant drugs.

Also re work, some parents need to work and some even more so now, I don't think our economy will be able to survive much longer with keeping people at home under the Furlough scheme which is finishing in October.

I hope that you get to see your grandchildren more now.
