Blown from here into next week.

Last night really gave me the jitters, the gales and winds were horrendous ,and the damage done to our gardens is terrible, all the tables and benches were blown to smithereens, plants and shrubs uplifted from the ground, slates off the roof, even my wee dogs would'nt step outside.

We have scaffolding up and many planks of wood were thrown to the ground, and i dread the thought had anyone been under it all.

How anyone can say they love gale force weather is baffling when it does so much damage ,and then the cost of repairs does'nt bear thinking about.

I loath the thought of winter with a passion, when the weather can be so destructive.

Stay safe .

I was frightened as well by the winds and it caused a small water leak which I am getting seen to as better safe than sorry!

So sorry to hear about your storm damage. You really have had some upsetting and unsettling weather.

Have just opened my kitchen blinds and not a pretty sight. My apple tree seems to have lost most of the fruit, my deck furniture piled in a heap, and leaves and branches everywhere, thats today taken care of...

Worst thing was yesterday, i was using the phone when i caught sight out of the corner of my eye of a truly amazing sight, my heavy metal ‘egg’ chair, complete with heavy cushion was in the air and blown over the flower bed to crash half on plants and half on the lawn.

Took ages to lever it back.

The sky is very dark and forbidding and the trees are moving like frenetic dancers so will not be venturing far today. Stay safe everyone

Sorry to hear you have had so much damage, our local newspaper warned us of high winds and to secure garden fixtures and keep windows closed. Your scaffolding company should have come around to secure the boards. Last year high winds caused the death of a local man out walking his dog. The force of nature is very powerful and we can only do our best to try and limit the risk of damage. Take care today and stay safe. 🌈👍🌸

Hi secrets22, that was dramatic, and as someone who has been through several hurricanes/typhoons, I can only agree that storms can be very destructive. I think that a liking for storms is for the very reason you mention. It shows nature at its most powerful, but you're right. We must always remember how destructive storms can be. We've all seen the effects of bad storms in southern USA, the Caribbean and the South China sea. People can lose all their possessions and even their lives.

We're actually lucky here that, even at their worst, storms here generally do far less damage and cause far less loss of lives.

I'm glad you came through safely and hope that all of your damage can be put right. Take care and good to hear from you. 👍🙏😊

Sorry you had the brunt of the storm.

It hit us at 02.00 this morning with ferocity -I really thought we would have trees down etc. However all well when I peeked out as dawn breaking.

Hope you manage to clear up the mess and thank goodness no one was hurt by your scaffolding.

That sounds like one very frightening evening secrets. I thought it was bad enough here but not from what you are saying. I must admit, high winds really do scare me as they do so much damage. Hope you can get it cleaned up easily. x
