I don't know why the "play" button doesn't work, but if you click on the title ("Voices In The Sky") you should be all set.

My husband says "If I saw that I'd think uh, old hippy... and I'd ignore it."

Whadda you think?

Hello Nothing_but-pain

I agree with your husband, old hippy. :)

That's okay, I don't mind. He was on point.

Yes, I remember it well, they were in my era. I love the voice of Justin Hayward, Forever Autumn was my favourite. That beautiful bird, we had one similar to that if not the same here about a week ago, absolute lovely. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. Forever Autumn is new to me. But that voice is familiar.

Judging by your spelling of favorite, you live in the UK.

I was under the impression there are no bluebirds in the UK, apologies to Vera Lynn.

They were once very common here (U.S.), before thug house sparrows drove them out. I do hope they will reappear soon.

Yes, I am in the UK and no, it was a US blue feathered bird. I am trying to find the post which contains it, such a beautiful bird. I think it was a Lazuli Bunting but I can see now that they are two different birds, the one you show has a longer beak than the bunting. They are both beautiful birds. Here in the UK we the the Great Tit, Blue Tit and Nut Hatch (more of a dirty blue) and a few other birds with smaller areas of blue, all lovely in their own rights.

Hi springcross,

A note about your birds, but first a disclaimer,

- POSSIBLE TRIGGER -

Having fun looking up your birds until:

Great tits are killing birds and eating their brains. Climate change may be to blame.

Picture of Great tits standing on corpse of its kill with bloody face included.

Nature, red in tooth and claw. More than I wanted to know.

What? Where did you read that?

Nothing_but_books profile image
Nothing_but_booksReading Rabbits in reply to springcross

Ya. Here I am, happy, happy, happy. Enjoying looking up the new (to me) UK birds you shared with me. Beautiful. Learning a lot. Then I came across this (complete with a gruesome picture -- BEWARE!)

It upset me for hours.

Oh, that is really upsetting. I will never look at Great Tits with the same emotion as I have done until now. The study took place in forests in the Netherlands all year round but they must be the same in whichever country they inhabit. Truly upsetting.

Thank you Global Warming. I hope you're okay? I wasn't for a long while after I found that. Think happy thoughts, lose yourself in happy sounds. Maybe not bird song for a bit though.

I'm doing my best, but this morning I put on the Sunday morning television "happy news" program, and the network decided the best way to deal with the rioting and destruction in our cities is to throw fuel on the fire. Station after station, the same thing: vividly recounting -- with inflammatory pictures of course -- accounts of horrific racism in the past. Ya. That should help.

I'm frightened.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004 in reply to Nothing_but_books

Don't let the stations scare you with what they are saying. I know it can be scary sometimes. Everything that's going on will end eventually in its own time. I'm personally nervous about what's going on, too.

Nothing_but_books profile image
Nothing_but_booksReading Rabbits in reply to Activity2004

Thank you for your comforting words. I can avoid going into the city for now. But my husband knows he's "immune" and my, I worry.

I love your poem: "Everything that's going on..." It comforts me.

Here is one back atcha:

"I sent my soul through the Invisible,

Some letter of that after-life to spell:

And by and by my soul returned to me,

And answer'd "I Myself am Heav'n and Hell..."

The Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyám (Edward Fitzgerald translation)

Sorry about the formatting - HU isn't allowing me to space things.

Thank you for sharing the poem. Very inspiring and something to keep in mind.

Can you both have items delivered to your home? This would help cut down on your husband needing to go out and pick them up for the both of you.

Gee, that sounds sensible. Why didn't I think of that? Sorry, the sarcasm is at me, not ever you. Course we could...

He's a guy. Off he goes.

Sorry for the delay. Just got done with lunch now here.😀👍🌈

Have you talked to your husband about the idea? He may be okay with it if he knows that you are worried about him going out for everything.

Nothing_but_books profile image
Nothing_but_booksReading Rabbits in reply to Activity2004

He is not okay about responding positively to my concerns. He brushes them off, offhand.

I appreciate you letting me get it out. I've been feeling bad that I sounded irritable. I am, but I don't like when it seeps out here.

No worries about it. Everyone has bad days now and then. Everyone is allowed to vent here and there. If you ever want to talk, let me know. :-)

Hi Mr_Zoonie!

I've been trying to respond to your post in which you offered a newer link to Voices In The Sky... But I was not allowed to respond, and when I refreshed the page your version of the song had disappeared.

Whoa! I don't think I was seeing things - it played for me - and then it went away.

I would love to find that version of the song again. If it was you, and I am not losing my mind, please re-post it, or message me with the link.

For what it's worth, I've included my response to your original post - or my imagined version of it? Hey, ease my mind... It was there at one time, wasn't it?

Thank you! But it has to be Ray Thomas. His loss hit me very hard. Never met the man, but he meant a great deal to me. This makes me sad. His voice, his playing, defined The Moody Blues as much as Justin Hayward.

By the way, I think my link will play for you anyway if you click on the title at the top of the box. Yes?

Back in real time. I do see your new The War Of The Worlds post now. Going to listen now. Thanks!

If you like Justin Hayward’s voice you will enjoy these two videos, the story line many of us will be able to associate with, watch them in the order I have posted.

and

I read somewhere from a roadie who worked with the band years ago, that they were a nice bunch of guys who really cared about the fans.

Enjoy.

Hi BertieBasset11,

Unfortunately I can only see two completely black boxes with nothing inside but a "play" triangle. Neither plays.

Maybe you can direct me without the links, since they don't work. I'd like that.

Thanks!

P. S. Going back to my e-mail notification, I was able to copy-paste enough of the first link to pull up "Your Wildest Dreams", one of my all-time favorites.

But I'm not sure I can thank you for that one yet. I couldn't make it all the way through watching the video. Too much for me now. Yes, I remember. The memories came flooding back. No, I'm wrong. I do thank you. But it may take some time to watch casually -- if ever!

She is a very loved girl,. 5 years old now and her name is Missy. She is like a shadow never leaves my side. Bless her.

I echo your words. Our animal companions are wonderful blessings on our lives.

My little girl (see avatar) loves to screech and dance to "Rockin' Robin"! (I think the whistling works her up.) Jolie also provokes loud tweets from her when he adds bird songs to his tunes.

Is Missy a pure bred dog? (She is of course lovely and precious either way, mutt or pure bred.) I don't recognize the breed.

Hi Nothing_but pain, She is a Shorkie a mix between a Shiatsu and a Yorkshire terrier.

They are bread on purpose, full of mischief like a terrier and a good lookout like a Shiatsu. She does have a sulk if she is told off, but treats get around that.

Nothing_but_books profile image
Nothing_but_booksReading Rabbits in reply to AndtH

A sulk? I think she has trained you, hon. Misbehave, sulk, get treat. Whadda ya think?

Funny. I was certain I had found it, every time I sat on my bedroom floor, in the dark, with my headphones on and my eyes shut, taken away by the beautiful music. The future was endless then. A long, long time ago.
