1> I recently found out from my docs that singing broadens capacity for lungs heart and helps vertebra in the back(not to mention mental)In upper respiratory(like covid can be) it does help to see how long you can hold one note without stopping.I have gotten from 5 counts now to 11. do the one , one thousand count 2 onethousand. etc.

I love to pick a song a day but doo wop is so cool.I go to You Tube and find songs with lyrics to sing along.Either I hurt my dogs ears or he really enjoys singing because each time I put on "Mary did you know" he sings the entire song with practice.

Music...….I am thankful..... Numer 1

I love singing too Jackiesj, used to sing in a choir until I found I couldn't breathe deep enough to hold certain notes (I have a heart rhythm disorder). Like you I often go to YouTube and sing along to something on there. It's odd but just about every day a different song will come into my head, usually when I'm in the shower.

One of my favourites is Bring Him Home from Les Mis.

You have a beautiful little dog.

Buster is a rescue and hoping for a friend in the future.I love the song you mentioned.I had a great aunt in the USO and trying to find out what they do now in the USO....maybe write a service person or something from home.We need to start a zoom MS choir in our pj's!

I used to recommend singing to patients who had come to rely on wheelchairs for their mobility, good expansion of rib cage etc. BUT the complaints I used to get from their spouses.

My husband snores so loud, it use to wake my kids up rooms and doors away..so he cant complain!

I am actually making a list, ty so much for writing it down...the new freedom here is nice but not many are listening to precautions so im afraid we will need BIG list.

I love puzzles! I love to cook as well, and I am thinking of making meals who need them through my church.

It's well known that music is so good for mental health. I've read that people who have joined choirs are much happier and I've heard it's good for the respiratory system.

Well done on your singing keep it up, oh and the dog as well.😉😊🌈

I miss a good choir.actually know a choir that social distanced but over half got ill...Maybe zoom?

in reply to jackiesj

Choirs are good. Oh my goodness, may have been surfaces that they touched but Zoom, yes that's a very good idea. :)

I think that singing is so feel-good on all levels, so sing to your heart's content. Sounds like you often have a duet going with your very cute dog! 😃

My neighbors may not appreciate it so much..occasionally like two wolves I go on the back porch and say...want to sing to the moon buster? I start and there if you can imagine me and him howling at the moon!

I used to sing in a church choir for 13 years but am tone deaf now. Have joined a virtual choir of 423+ and I am quite happy hiding away and miming the words.... It's called thesofasingers.com with James Cills leading it. Would highly recommend it.

Just go on the website and register. James will send at least 2 emails and also a weekly newsletter. In one of the emails he will give you all the details you need for the

zoom room with passwords etc that you will need. Do you have a zoom app?

That's a good idea.Im finding my breathing and asthma havent been so good since Ive been in isolation.I havent been able to sit out in the garden much either ,due to the selfish behaviour of my neighbours(long story which I posted a while ago)so Im not getting much fresh air at all.Maybe I should sing in the garden...........😊

in reply to MadBunny

I was happy yesterday when my selfish neighbours got arrested for causing a disturbance!

I sympathise as I'm in the same boat. Screeching children on trampolines by day. Thumping bass all night. Deprived of nature is very hard. Broken fences, they won't fix, Overgrown shrubs.....

Ours has got rubbish piled up at the front, spilling over onto ours as gardens are all open plan. They smoke 'funny fags',got people round despite lockdown, barking dog and they dont clear up the mess so lots of flies.....I might have to contact the council

jackiesj profile image
jackiesj

Mr Buster is a rescue, from a cali puppy mill....he is a good boy...He will sing in the park for people...His hair is the cool factor!

jackiesj profile image

We are all suffering one way or another with this lockdown. I already suffer with chronic anxiety along with several other things, plus DH not well either with dementia and virtually immobile, for starters. Now because I've been feeling quite ill, l am starting to get paranoid. and think am getting depressed. Fixating on so called friends who have not called, (we are not into skyping, etc. as are in eighties. And I did call them originally). Had a bit of a get together on VE day with neighbours in cul-de-sac and felt we were being excluded, even though we have lived here 37 years. Next door neighbour one side moving to sit closer to our neighbour on other side, leaving us isolated. Now they are suggesting having another one this week and I really don't want to go,I know it is lack of confidence and I know if we don't we will be called antisocial. All the neighbours are aware we have problems but I felt really uncomfortable. I had thought we all got on fairly well until last week. I will be sol glad when this is over!

Hi there. Think we are all suffering in our own way but sorry that you have so much on your plate and as for those rude neighbours that is just beyond belief...since you are over80 wasn't there even just one who volunteered to do your shopping for you? Sorry but it just makes me angry and sad that they know you have problems but are so selfish as to ignore them? Not right at all...

Def James Cills thesofasingers.com or just google the sofa singers. Sorry that should be all one word as in the website. Can't recommend them highly enough!

What a great idea! I just started walking with ear bud head phones on with music. It definitely puts pep in my step! That's great about finding a song and singing to it! I love it! Thank you for sharing. I need some air in my lungs for sure!
