What's anyone done today

I've cleared a few things out of the bedroom, and underneath everything was............ A new unopened bed sheet, otherwise just pottered around, watched a lot of TV, no food delivery, when I rang the number I was given it was all automated and when the question of having someone able to bring me food I answered yes, so hopefully that's taken me off the list of getting a food box, downside to the day is that my sister had a call from mum's care home, she doesn't have the virus but being diabetic and not eating her sugar levels are high, so something else to worry about

Hello, aren't you doing well with all the jobs in your flat, you put me to shame today, i have been a bit lazy today did do rather a lot yesterday, So sorry to hear about your mum, do hope she improves, you really do not need any more problems at the moment. I know how I used to feel when my mum was in a care home My husband had a phone appt with the Nurse and then the doctor called him, that is so good of the surgery, really helps me. it has been a nice sunny day here, but a chilly wind, Take Care, look forward to reading your lovely words. Huggles, jenny. x

Hi Jennymary! Sounds like you had a busy day! I'm sorry to hear about your mum, I hope she's going to be okay. It's really great she has you and your sister as well as the care home to look out for her.

Today I did a lot of work and went for a walk to try to enjoy the sunshine. My husband went to the big Tesco very early so we have our weekly shop sorted. Today we will make some fish tacos and I will try to read and relax this evening. I hope you have a good rest of your day :)

We have found that its after about 11 when the supermarkets here get busy when we have walked past them and also between 12 and 2 they tend to be busy as well we have observed but quiet after about 2pm and Wednesday and Thursday are usually quite quiet but no way will be visit them on a weekend day unless absolutely desperate with no other choices and will do this even after this has finished as well.

That's good that you've cleared your bedroom out. When this is all over you'll be able to think of things to do for pleasure for a while.

I'm glad your mum doesn't have the virus but I'm sorry her sugar levels are high. They will look after her and get her levels back down and I'm sure your sister will have better news about your mum in a couple of days or so.

My hubby and me did the housework this morning then I practised a session of Callenetics, I've not done a lot else today so a fairly quiet one today.

Take care

I watched star wars this afternoon after I had been to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription and then went on my daily walk afterwards to the park and then back home.

Here in Cardiff at present our pharmacies are shut between 12 and 2 and our local boots opens at 9.30 at present so I was there for about 9.45 this morning to get it over and done with and off to the park!

Hi Jennymary,

Sorry to hear of the problem with your mum. It's a fact that the virus is not the only issue that affects the very elderly, in and out of Care Homes. I hope she can be persuaded to eat enough to correct this. It is so worrying, and especially in this current situation where you have to remain so distant from her. Glad your day went OK.

I've had a 'pottering' day too today with just a few chores, some online interactions and I've watched a couple of episodes of the Channel 5 Irish drama 'Blood' which is shaping up nicely and I may watch more later. Take care and keep well! 🌈

Hi Jennymary ,

Sorry to hear about your mom's blood sugar. The Caregivers will get the numbers back in control.

Wonderful job on the cleaning and then finding unopened sheets. That's a nice surprise. :-)

My day is a lot better than it was yesterday. This morning, I was up an hour earlier than planned, but I'm okay. I had a mini early morning snack then went back to sleep until 6:45 am, had breakfast, a second snack around 10:30 am, ate lunch around 12 noon, went on the computer and did replies/postings, checked messages on and off HU, calibrated my CGM for a new sensor that was inserted at 1:25 pm and then calibrated twice around 3:25 pm and did a few things in my room. I plan to do some reading and create a few word puzzles for the next day and have dinner around 5:30 pm. I will watch some TV and read before bed tonight unless I'm really tired.

Have a good night, Jenny. :-)

Hi Jennymary, sorry to here about your mum. I'm sure she is in safe hands and the staff will be keeping a close eye on her blood sugars. Today I walked the dogs and took a few pictures on my phone. It is a nice walk where I take them. I started doing Spanish lessons on Duolingo yesterday. I really enjoyed it. So I'll be carrying on with that. It's been a lovely sunny warm day here today. Take care. xx

in reply to bobbybobb

I do Spanish in duolingo as well and I find Spanish is easy to pick up.

I'm really enjoying it. I thought I would start with something not as difficult as other languages. I think it's great..👍👍

It’s easy for me to say try not to worry about your mum, but I’ll say it anyway. The carers will get her sugars sorted I’m sure.

At the weekend I decided to make myself a ‘mars’ chart (remember, a mars a day helps you work, rest and play?)

I’ve allocated work, rest and play sessions for Monday to Friday and weekends are do nothing days.

Yesterday’s work was to deep clean the kitchen and then play involved making cheese and onion bread and a pan of roasted squash and red pepper soup. My rest was a good few hours reading and listening to music.

Today was bathroom and laundry day. (Work)

Sorting out fabric and patterns to have a go at making masks was play and for rest I decided to start watching a favourite TV series from the very beginning again.

It’s making me a lot more motivated.

Now I just have to sort out my eating habits 🙄

I like TV and listening to music as well!

I was making ear savers for NHS and making window displays for VE Day.

Today I have some drawstring bags for scrubs and masks to make and more ear savers. Also some potting on and baking so very busy. x

Granddaughter a final year student midwife, just been seconded to NHS. Has all masks etc but how do you make ear savers. x

You are doing well. I've done a lot of "bottoming" but that's had to stop now as I did my back in again on Monday, emptying the ash into the kitchen bin. It's worse trying to get to the bathroom at night but at least the unexplained pain in my hip has gone! Blessing in disguise. Perhaps last June I slipped a disc and Monday it slipped back in again! I had forgotten just how painful it is when it has just happened.

I was in the shower yesterday when a phone call came from someone at the hospital. The message was that I would have to go for bloods in a different place from usual and that I would probably have a phone consultation afterwards. Angry that if I couldn't have an appointment there would be no sense in my going all that way just for bloods, I fell out with my partner. I stayed in all day waiting for the promised call, but the person who phoned did not phone back. I was also expecting a delivery from Sainsbury's but I must have not completed the process properly on line the last time I made an addition to my list.

Very depressed and didn't have any lunch. It's a lovely day today. Will I get out for a walk in the sunshine? Who knows. I was so looking forward to going to the hospital on Thursday as I haven't been anywhere really since lockdown apart from the enforced shopping at the start. I will have to go out and check that my car will start ok.

After I received my food parcel last week, my partner got on the phone moaning about having been forgotten. Then last night, he found a huge box outside, duplicating what was in my box and there were so many other things in it that we don't have room for it all on the shelves, and Sainsbury's is delivering today as well - without some of the things we have kept ordering.

I did do a bit more editing of my book (motivation has been lacking) but worried about my friend who is sick, as I haven't heard from her for a week. We rarely go without emails for more than a day.

Well - a bit more resting on my recliner, and routine chores that I can manage, and just hope that today brings more joy than yesterday.

in reply to MaggieSylvie

We all get times like that don't we when we feel fed up and everything goes wrong all at the same time as well!

Today's another day though.

Being in so much pain makes it all seem worse and my partner doesn't seem to have even noticed, never mind care.

On Tuesday it was the third day doing 10km on the rowing machine, plus preparing information for a further submission to the DVLA Medical Group to try and regain my driving licence, plus cutting the lawn. Today I'm just about to go out for a six mile walk, then probably another session on the rowing machine. Upcoming this week: more rowing machine sessions aiming for a stretch total target of 2 million metres by October - reached 1.5 million metres this week.

Good Morning Jennymary, I braved yesterday with mask on face and gloves on hands and my spray bottle of alcohol and went to the grocery. Do not know why but when I do this I am done for the day after putting away the groceries. Prayers for your mum. I have diabetes type 2 and it is work keeping my glucose levels normal.
