Hi I have an injection tommorow after complaining a few times about it being cancelled so I finally got there, my question is has anyone had an injection at their local surgery recently and did they think they were protected enough against covid-19? I ask this as I disagree with what my nurse said to me earlier about p.a not being any different but anyway do tell thanks .

My surgery sent a nurse to my house to give me a pneumonia jab. She wasn’t a district nurse. She works in the GP surgery.
She stood outside, gelled har hands, put on gloves, apron and a mask.
She injected me just inside the entrance, leaving the door open.
She left the house without touching anything.

I can't claim to know from personal experience but I do know that my own GP surgery has stringent measures in place to prevent any possible COVID-19 cases from even gaining entry to the main building. All attendees are seen at a special station set up in a temporary building outside the main one, through a window. Anyone with anything remotely coronavirus related is only given advice and sent home or directly to hospital if that's deemed necessary. Only planned appointments are allowed into the main building. Staff all wear PPE so risk is really minimal.
Hi! I had two cortisone injections in my wrists last week. The surgery had asked me to wait in my car in the car park until my doctor cane out for me. He had a mask and gloves on. In the reception area I put on gloves and a mask. In the consulting room the doctor and I sat well apart except for when be gave me the injections and he changed his gloves etc. between each injection. I had to dispose of the gloves and mask (under supervision,) as I left the reception area. I felt protected and happy with how it was all done. I joked with my doctor about whether he had to give me the injections from six feet away, like a darts player. Hope that helps. 😷🙂🌸

My friend in Scotland, had to ring the surgery when she arrive in the car park, was not allowed in until previous patient left, then taken in through back door by the nurse who was masked and gowned, injection given, shown back out to car park. Nurse then sanitised the areas touched and deep cleaned certain areas, before next person allowed in. She met no one other than the nurse and felt had been kept as safe as possible.
A nurse from my Drs surgery came to my house, gowned masked, and gloved up, gave me my blood test, and left 😁
I needed a blood test and couldn’t delay it. I was told that appointments were being spaced so there would be no need to be near anyone, and I should ring on the intercom. When I got there, two people were chatting by the door, so I rang from my mobile to say I was waiting in the car, as arranged, for the nurse to come and collect me.I heard two other people say they had appointments at the same time as me. The nurse came out wearing gloves and a white apron - I don’t know whether either were changed since the last patient, but she had to touch the door handle. When we got to the consulting room she used the computer keyboard, still wearing the gloves, then took my blood without changing. Then she went back to record the blood taken on the keyboard, still wearing the same gloves, and took me out so I ’wouldn’t have to touch anything’.
Now, even if she had changed gloves before seeing me, and had carried out the previous consultation in the same way, she would have touched the keyboard and door handle wearing gloves which could have been contaminated by the previous patient.
I was dubious and nervous before going and now I’m worried.
I’ve had to go to hospital for 3 appointments recently and all seating was socially distanced, all staff wore PPE and we were taken in one at a time. Am sure GP surgeries doing the same.
When I visit the surgery tomorrow I am to tap on the window from outside to receive my blood test form. So I don't go inside at all.
When I went to my gps I had my temperature taken at door all seats were 6ft apart Perspex up in front of receptionist nurse was excellent gloves etc
I had a PSA blood sample taken at the local Health Centre on Monday. I wore nitrile rubber gloves. The reception desk was barriered off with tape and I had to wash my hands before approaching reception. There was no one else in the waiting area. A nurse wearing gloves, apron and a mask checked my temperature on my forehead and inner ear and, asked me whether I had any Covid symptoms. After the blood sample, I disposed of my gloves in their bin, she opened the doors and let me out of the rear of the building.
Good precautions were in place for me and the staff.
