I've been out walking for the last couple of days and have had to open gates that are in fields and I didn't want to touch the catches due to the current situation so I have used old dead sticks to flick open the gates and it has worked really well.
Also, I have been taking my own sanitiser spray to the supermarket with me and taken a cloth as well, sprayed the cloth and then cleaned the trolley handle before using the trolley. The supermarkets are keeping all the sanitisers and cloths in store which means you would touch the trolley before cleaning it which doesn't make sense at all.

Tesco are to provide cleaning materials outside store in the trolley pick up areas so hopefully this will help.

Ah that's good as it was inside the store today, I shop at Tesco.
I had a voucher on my mobile and she couldn't get it to work so another assistant helped. Another assistant at the till said we aren't supposed to touch customers' mobile phones, I replied, it's okay I've just sprayed her gloves with my sanitiser😊
My daughter in law works in a big Tesco picking the orders for dispatch and they haven't got any PPE. She wears an extra pair of rubber gloves underneath their usual black gloves but no masks as yet. It's a disgrace.
Oh no, that's not good at all as the staff need a lot of protection as they are coming into contact with people all the time and they are handling the home shopping trolleys. I would do the same with the gloves. I hope that she stays well.
Lidl staff had some on yesterday some looked homemade out of material. They're due to get screens at tills soon and I had a coupon she just took it off me with gloves on
I have not had the time to review and answer so your posts noware 10 days ago. We have been on lock down.......no self decision about it any more for weeks.
Am very pleased with how the medical community is responding. At first, things were just a jumbled mess ....I couldn't figure out how to have lab tests done as had no RX, and then where would I go as the tests were always at the medical school lab, but the entire medical school and labs are shut down except for the researchers and the lab experts trying to interpret the lab tests results for the VIRUS pouring in from first responders and medical professionals.
But now, even my medical appointments are by phone, except for the blood draw..... the private labs have been approved for emergency or time-sensitive lab work.....And have are reserving the first hour of their day from 7:30-8:30 am for people over 60 with underlying health issues. These are the people with highest risk. They are the first to be there after the labs and rooms have been scrubbed and sanitized. No one else can enter.
My blood tests are mandatory as I am in the middle of a change of osteoporosis meds..... there cannot be a gap between when the current one ends and the new infusion is performed.....infusion charted in two weeks. I suggest that my blood draws be done outside next to my auto. They were very appreciative as others not high on the risk list are also volunteering to do that. No chance we would bring in anything harmful. The staff is covered like mannequins. Cuts down of the protective gear the staff needs and I know I won't be exposed to anyone who may be positive and not tested yet.
So I guess I'll see you on another site soon as you are probablely on mandatory house shut down by now also. It's ok. One can go outside periodically for fresh air periodically for a walk or by auto further for matters that are absolutely nescessary. (like m y blood tests)
At 6 p.m. every day, I better be out side our house as husband has our two recumbent trikes (CATRIKES) ready to go with our dog for a 45-minute ride through the neighborhood. And he'll leave without me!
However, our state has 6 ports and the cruise ships cannot leave nor port.......the cruise lines understand and want their loyal passengers back when all is over.

Brilliant idea. I shall too sanitize trolley handles. Wore gloves on my last trip, bit then touched the items I purchased with germ ridden gloves. Came home and wiped all of my shopping down and rinsed under the tap
One suggestion is to wear one glove and use that for touching trolley's doors etc and other one free for food and touching face if you have to. Has everyone suddenly become aware of how much they touch their faces whilst out?
For years our grocery has had the wipes for the wire mental rolling baskets with the waste bin nearby. I think it was because some people bring in their tiny dogs or their child has a runny nose and they are place in the child's basket on the cart. And who really knows how long that cart sat in the parking lot.
Oh, my. Guess now one must have freshly washed hands of soapy, suds type, with lots of wear...Dry appropriately and tie knots in the mask elastic to be certain it is a "custom" fit. (sigh).
They say gloves are effective but also are contaminated when leaving business. There is a way to remove if wearing both and to dispose of each time/place. I already had 2 boxes b4 pandemic. A man wearing was asked where purchased black one's. He said AutoZone (car part business). It's same place I purchased blue "shop rags" paper towel material in 2 huge boxes. Same price as paper towels. Have 2 b inventive in spite of shortage or none on store shelves.
How did you assure your fruit of live veggies weren't full of so,me else's finger prints? Lordy knows I see people pick up a piece of fruit or a veggie and I want to say just buy it, don't rent it and leave your cells on them.
Good ideas I went out in latex gloves yesterday so didn't have to touch trolley then food!!!! Lidl didn't even have cleaning stuff indoors for trolley's, local small cash and carry had cleaner and blue roll in a box at side of trolley's, only had one till open and markings on floor to keep you safe distance apart at tills. First I've seen.
Husband brought home a large container of hand sanitizer; we have a number of small spray bottles and fill them with 1/3 of that, and then pour rubbing alcohol. The sanitizer is to thick to spray by itself. We have them in key places about the house, auto and where our recumbent Catrikes are stored. We spray and use a cloth on them after our 3 mile run with my service dog in the early evenings.
Our large grocery is visited by my husband 2x week in am to see if there is any milk or meat or bread; in 15 minutes he is back home.
He found the basic recipe for a large batch of sanitizer that won't make our hands raw from all surface scrubbing and the hand washing but it does have alcohol (65%) We have small cheap dispensers placed through out the house and on the seats of our Catrikes to "wash them down" after our ride each day. And our outoor shoes go into a bucket after spraying them. (And the dogs paws are treated too) We see the same neighbors each night on racing bysysles, walking or sitting out side ......we sometimes stop and chat as we had never even met them in the 4 years we have lived here
Some of the hand applied sanitizers are hard on our skin so we felt making our own was the way to go. The reason that constant handwashing with soap is recommended but chafes our hands is it takes several minutes scrubbing for the soap break up the fat that protects the VIRUS. Without out the fat , the VIRUS is no longer viable.
