Positive Wellbeing During Self-Isolation
If someone was looking at us from another part of the Universe, what might they think mankind’s greatest achievement was:
PWBAmbassadorAmbassador292 VotersThe fact that we care for each other, and have long done so, as indicated by Palaeolithic mended and broken bones. For any other creature in the wild, a broken leg means death. When we first started providing and caring for each other, such as providing food and shelter while a bone healed, then we made real progress. That we continue to have such care freely available in some countries, such as the NHS in the UK, shows how advanced we have become.
It's what we are all praying for I think
It was the “Wheel” that set it all in motion, literally & figurally. For without the wheel there’d be nothing as
sadly things like kindness or each other were not included!
I've chosen vaccines. Without vaccines people certainly wouldn't be living as long. We know now that COVID-19 is a killer but so is the common virus flu hence the flu vaccine.
I’ve chosen the moon as it showed us looking beyond ourselves
Hello PositiveWellbeingMod
Without the wheel where would we be, square steering wheel, four square wheels on your car etc, the wheel l believe started mankind as we know it, for good or bad.
I did not vote for any of the listed items because if anyone could view us from another part of the universe, they would be way ahead of earth.
With the current situation it would be expected that vaccines would top the poll.
However under normal circumstances it probably would not even feature!
Maybe trying to get close to them, if they are reading this please invite me back to their universe, I will be good, I promise
I'm shocked that vaccines is topping the poll as there actually hasn't been that many successful vaccines in the history of mankind so how can they be man's "greatest" achievement. I voted for computers/social networking as that has sped along at a ferocious pace since Charles Babbage first made a computer the size of a house and now very few of us can't live without interactions on a hand held one.
Hello HissingSid
I am an engineer and have been using computers since 1984 and frankly I am tired of all the problems with computers and software. Maybe any one looking at us from across the universe could come up with a better product.
Polio is just one example,as a victim of the 1952 pandemic I can vouch for the fact that the disease is very nearly eradicated worldwide. Vaccines for the present emergency would be great, they haven’t yet found one yet for SARS ! None of these could be done without electricity
Not being able to reach them !
Many votes for a vaccine, not always an answer I am afraid. However, there will be plenty of guinea pigs.
I voted for electricity, because without electricity we would all still be in the dark, as they say. Electricity provides some light during these dark times.

I would say reaching out to the universe , because it would mean taking all of the above and more in our discoveries. Hermes.
A sense of humour, you need it to get right back on track!
Communication, from language to writing, to computing .......
They would why we should be... having a beauty of our our planet's and our ability to need to kill ourselves
I think the wheel as its in the inventions through time as in mechanical and making of medication and a whole lot more, its helped the humans to use their brain to invent.
,
I doubt this would look the same without our current crisis. Vaccines are very important at this moment. But could this be SEEN by someone at a distance?
Honestly an alien looking from a biological perspective would see one species that massively dominated all corners of the planet and created so many pollutants destroying every area, I don't think from a galactic perspective they would look at that species and see 'acheivements'. If the aliens didn't know what poetry, or music was, they'd see some sort of infestation. I'm not being misanthropic or cyncial. I love us, I love people, I think computers, artifical heart valves, etc are fantastic. But from a distant and biological perspective, we ourselves would look at a planet like ours and if they didn't know how much we love ourselves as a species, all WE would see is some form of dangerous imbalance, a species that doesn't regard it's own and creates mega-tons of toxins, overfishes, etc etc. What else would that be but destruction and suffering rather than acheivement?
Super advanses into medication,ITC and repair of broken bones.
Personally, I think aliens would be horrified at what we have done to the planet. We are the single most destructive of all the animals.
Suppose their planet is in worse shape than ours? Just because you are technically advanced, do you have other features that make life worth living?
I think aliens would pass us by, how many millions of years was the planets ruled by dinosaurs! Man, now in a couple of thousand years, Aliens could probably see that even the deepest part of our oceans, have bits of plastic on them, Man has communication products, windows, foods wrapped in, clothes, buildings, cars, lorries, planes, etc, all depending on, guess what.... PLASTIC! [not even a natural product!]
So you want America to have what you have
Oh, name-calling. Way to win friends and influence people.
Really in what way ??????
