Any consensus on exercise for PMR? I am finding that medium exertion with stretching, aerobics or resistance all reliably flare symptoms.

I have had PMR for probably 2-3 years, but diagnosed just 10 weeks ago. Prednisone dose now 10 mg/d from initially 50 mg/d. Problem is, I have pre-existing chronic shoulder pain, neck pain and low back pain from various injuries over the years. I am using the steroid anti-inflammatory effect to not only settle PMR sx now, but also to allow me to exercise to get into better condition, avoid weight gain and proximal muscle weakness associated with prednisone use. I am having a hard time deducing whether my symptoms are associated with aggravating previous musculoskeletal injuries, just getting into better shape or PMR flareup. Recent CRP 9.2. Any suggestions?

Exercise worsens my PMR and I can survive OK on a lower dose of prednisone if I am less active.
