Oh, hard to say, I'm afraid. There is almost no serious research on people who are recovering. For what it's worth, my face didn't really get back to normal until I was off the steroids, but the moon face look started to reduce from about 5mg and under.

Hi Judeapude

My face seemed to start getting it's usual shape back somewhere around the 7mg dose and then it slowly returned to normal at the very low doses somewhere below 5mg - I don't know whether it helped but I included known diuretic-type foods in my diet, such as asparagus, garlic, fennel and melon. You can be reassured that it does eventually go away completely - meanwhile, good luck with your further reductions.

Hi Jude,

I'm now down to 8.5mg and my 'moon face' is not too bad - by the way it's a good idea not to eat salt or refined sugar as both these substances will cause you to hold more fluid and, therefore, your face will fatten up. Also, drinking more water will help your body get rid of excess baddies and it will improve your skin and hair, if they need improvement of course!

Pats.
