I have been feeling lightheaded at times, even when in bed. could this be related to steroid reduction. 3mgs now, was 40mgs last January.

Hi Quine

Have you had your blood pressure checked lately? If not it might be an idea to have it done.

You have done very well and are very lucky to have been able to reduce from 40mgs to 3mgs in just 12 months. I do hope the rest of your journey with PMR (or GCA) continues as smoothly.

Interestingly I felt faint for a week when reducing at about the same level of Pred. I had to sit in a corner for a couple of days and then take it easy for the rest of the week. At the next drop I felt a little faint but not so bad. Even after that I felt a bit light headed early in the day. Since then a cough and sore throat prevented any further drops for 6 weeks and the problem seems to have gone away(2.5 mg now). My GP's view is that it takes the body a while to adjust to the lower dose. Celtic is right to advise a blood pressure check as mine was on the low side of normal 12 months ago at a much higher dose, so could well be a bit

low now. I wonder if you have reduced too quickly and that has caused the problem, 40 to 3 in a year is very fast. It has taken me 16 months to go from 15mg to 2.5mg.

Hope you feel better soon.

Wow! You have done amazingly well to get your dose down so low in just 12 months.
