Hi me again .

Just had a few of the results re my dexa scan ( osteoporosis nurse coming Friday to discuss in more detail) suddenly everyone wants to see me 😁don’t know whether to be flattered or scared .

My overall T score is -3.8

L3 is -4.3 and L4 is -5.1 gulp ,

Hip shows mild osteopenia.

So now I need your input please re the best of the worst on bisophosphates as I think I’m going to have to take them sadly .

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Ps also got appointment through for spinal triage at last .

Hum! Even I would be looking for something!! But I suspect they may offer you something more than AA. The oral bisphosphonates don't usually improve the bone density, they maintain what you have. It may be Prolia/denosumab which my husband gets or even maybe Forteo - both of which build bone more quickly.

However - the side effects would have to be pretty bad to be worse than spinal fractures believe me.

I was just about to ask you about teriparapide when I looked up forteo lol . Thank you . Yes I need something with those scores I know . So will have a lot of questions … amazing what can happen in a week when my GP kicks ass lol .

Have a look at Bone Health on Health Unlocked - just look in ‘My Hub’ & you’ll find it - also there is an ongoing thread with Frewen1 you might like to follow.

Kind Regards

I reckon that positive attitude will carry you through...but we all have times when it’s suddenly ‘not O.k’!

I can see why they all want to see you. When did you have your last Dexa? I can't find my full results at the moment but my t-score was similar. I had resisted bisphosphonates for many years due to side effects but couldn't argue with the results this time. I had a Zalendronic acid infusion which is yearly over 3 years. Very few side effects after a couple of days. Not happy as I was about to have dental implants but no choice. It's not nice to get those kind of results. I feel for you.

I’ve never had a dexa scan before . Waited 5 months after first MRI to get this one . It’s only because I had 2nd MRI which revelealed a lot of changes ( none of which good ) that I finally got the Dexa . Possible the full Implications haven’t hit me yet 😳

No. It is quite shocking when you get those kind of results and you can't think of anything else. I have had regular Dexa scans since 2007 (at 49) due to my mother having terrible osteoporosis with a crashingly low bone density. I have watched it get progressively worse over the years. I am very aware of everything I do these days, in terms of potential falls etc as I can just lean over the sofa to get something and crack a rib.You will be given several options I am sure. There were a lot that weren't suitable for me due to a DVT I had way back as a teenager, and my mothers history of pulmonary embolism. You will have more options. What was the time scale between your first MRI and your second?

Likewise re blood problems hereditary factor V Leiden and my mum and brother both DVT plus mum had pulmonary embolism.. my first MRI was 2nd March this year . The second was 26th July . Still not sure on all the terminology yet , also assuming I won’t be able to go back to work as am still after over 5 months only able to walk with either a Walker and or sticks .

Ah , so maybe they will offer the Zalendronic acid infusion for you? So do you mean your MRI showed changes after just 4 months? Oh poor you re still struggling to walk. If work are OK with you being off, then take all the time you can.

Hi again yes it did . A further fracture plus something nodes . Mild scilliorosis ( not spelt right ) plus a small cyst on nerve ending plus just for good measure lost 20 percent further on 2 vertebrae one is now 60 percent one is 80 percent loss

All I can say is that I am in hospital with a fractured hip after skidding on the kitchen floor! I took Ibandronic acid for three and a half years and I think they’ll try to put me back on it. We’ll see. There’s another drug that can be injected every six months but as always we need to know more

I got mine dexa scan on wed, dont know if I'm scared and worried about the results or relieved that I will finally know whatever the outcome

Don’t know whereabouts you are but I am on the Isle of Wight and I was called by the osteoporosis nurse a few days after my scan with brief results as in my T Score . Then she came out to see me a few days later with different options for treatment. I found it reassuring and found i felt better armed to deal with things .I hope you get the same support if needed .

Good luck 🤞
