This was in the Times today: "The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is getting the thumbs down from doctors in France and Italy who are suffering side effects and claim it is less effective than other vaccines.
France has put medical staff on alert after doctors suffered “high-intensity flu symptoms” following the first dose. In the first four days the vaccine was administered last week, 149 cases of strong symptoms were reported by staff who had to stop work to recover, according to ANSM, the national medicines safety agency."

They say that people who have already had Covid and then get a vaccine tend to have more serious adverse effects - and an awful lot of our healthcare staff here in Italy have had the virus. I imagine the same applies in France. Plus the people getting the AZ vaccine are all young, under 55, and it is also said that younger people tend to have stronger reactions because their immune systems are in better shape.
Haven't heard such comments in the UK - but they have only just got to under 70s haven't they?
Mate just to let you know that as far as I know the UK have vaccinated many of the NHS staff (many under 70 😊)
The Care home employees in the home Joan is in, all done and Council Care workers like Susan (aged 50) and some people classed as essential workers...........yes they are not in the first set of age system....................S and her colleagues all had AZ and no problems to day.
In some locations, if they have vaccine left-over they do anyone they can get their mitts on. Typical waste not want not when NHS staff and local Public Health are involved.
Some with Pfizer some with AZ - the rate of vaccination is down to AZ no storage problems.

Last night on Zoom our book group discussed the after effects of the vaccine. Out of 14 (mostly late 60s to late 70s) at least half had had very nasty flu like symptoms. One retired GP said she woke her husband in the night she was shaking so much. All over within 24 to 72 hours but if I was a medic I’d probably not feel like working! One lady who is our youngest & a pharmacist, certainly not 60, had a very bad reaction but was interested she didn’t contract Covid from her husband & son 2 weeks ago after vaccine. There was a mix of Astra & Pfizer. My little study for what it’s worth. We are all wondering if we’ll have the same discussion in 12 weeks 🤣
I’m 62. I got mine (AZ)last Tuesday as a last minute ‘leftover’ from the GP’s hub locally, same afternoon coincidentally as my husband had his appointment in the morning ... I had been shielding so I don’t think I’d had Covid but I had a pretty strong reaction and was in bed till Thursday - he’s 72 and was fine. My neighbour also had the AZ same day. She’s 66 and she was fine too, as was her 74yo husband. Just proves we’re all different I guess. I’m down to alternating 3.75 & 4mg pred at the moment. Just passed first pred anniversary a couple of weeks ago so I’m hoping it’ll continue to be controlled now I’m relatively low 🤞
I’ve had AZ - no problems, l know a 37year old, CEV (Lupus) who’s had AZ this morning, will let you know how she goes.
I’ve had an assortment of friends/family who’ve had the Vaccine in the last couple of weeks, the main complaint is a sore arm (but only if they lay on it) & feeling tired usually on the day.
MrE had the Pfizer, again sore arm & really tired in the afternoon but apart from that fine......
I'm in my 70's and had the AZ. No reaction apart from feeling a bit 'odd' for 1 day, not even sore arm. Have to confess I have some worries about efficacy of AZ but suspect that is just media influence.
I had the AZ vaccine a few days ago. Sore arm was my only major symptom, though not so sore I couldn’t lie on it. Other symptoms are those I’ve been having for some time eg. I’m always a bit tired due to PMR and pred!
I had mine yesterday and had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in months. No side effects apart from a slight tenderness on the injection site, not even serious enough to prevent me lying on that side. I didn’t have to wait for 15 minutes either - that is only for Pfizer.
I had my Oxford/AZ vaccine 3 weeks ago today (75+ group) and the only reaction I had was feeling fatigued the following day, not even a sore arm. I think the NHS has done an amazing job with the organisation, full of admiration for them.
Yes, I've had AZ and had an awful two days. I'm 47. Not had covid to my knowledge.
I felt very ropey the day after the jab then was forced to take the 2nd day off work to nurse a fever. The fever went quickly but it was without fail the most I have ever reacted to a jab.

Her stepson caught it on his nursing placement - he had the vaccine eventually and the cough of Covid started the same evening! So he has been developing antibodies from 2 sources - still feeling a bit ropey at nearly 22.
My sister has RA is 55, she had the Oxford vaccine on Thursday, told me today she has flu symptoms.....aching, sore throat.....fatigue......I had it on Monday gone, next day heavy fatigue, but I am dealing with a flare like when I first for PMR....so who knows.....My DIL also felt rough for 48 hours....same vaccine, but as we all agreed nothing compared to Covid... ..
I know quite a lot of people who have been vaccinated in the last few weeks and don't know anyone who has had an extreme reaction from either Pfizer or Astra Zeneca vaccines. Have just returned home from having the Astra Zeneca one myself so will wait and see what happens. I was very impressed with the organisation and speed of it all and surprised that there seemed to be many younger people there - I'm usually quite good at judging age and I would guess they were late 40's and upward. Son (37) who works with social care team also had same vaccine this morning.
Many of them have been frightened witless by the rubbish spouted by social media and the endless arguing the toss over what's right and wrong on MSM. You wouldn't like to know what I think of either of them - I sometimes think I'm not a very nice person!!
Same as my sister..fluey......but it doesn't last long....my OH has pfizer, no affects at all....but that's what I expected........hasn't even had a cold in the 50 years I've known him!.........
Had mine yesterday AZ not even a sore arm , no headache zilch . Feel tip top , very pleased , do not take too much notice of press . I'm 68 with various Autoimmune issues, non of my friends have had any adverse reactions either at all !
I had AstraZeneca. I’m 64 taking 10 mgs prednisone and have been taking prednisone since august 2018. I had a really high temp with uncontrollable shaking the night of the jab, headache, general aches and upset stomach. The next day I felt a bit better, but it took a week before I felt my normal again. Many of my friends who had AstraZeneca have been ill, those who took phizer have been fine
