I would love to toast with Prosecco. However, my wine cupboard is bare. The sale of liquor was banned in Panama in mid-March!!!
Mercifully the Italians realised that would not be a good idea!!! Currently life without a G&T in the late afternoon would be a bit miserable! Getting through an awful lot of t-bags at present though.
I've been avoiding the high carb cocktails for some time. I love G&T but the sugar content of tonic scares me and diet tonic ruins the drink for me.
I'm now dipping into the hard liquor in the afternoon but without high calorie mixes i.e. gin or vodka martini, bourbon or other whiskey on the rocks with a splash of water, tequila with lime and soda, Compari and soda or a Nigroni.... Lots of options for as long as there's something left in the liquor cabinet.

I found a bottle of my favourite Prosecco at the back shelf of the fridge while spring cleaning. Score! 🍾🥂 I’m saving it for when my first twin grandsons are born (she’s past 33 weeks now 🤞).
Canada designated both liquor stores and (online) Cannabis stores essential services. Bless them!! (of course they do make $ from taxes when these items are purchased)
Any chance you can purchase alcohol from a hotel that’s likely not busy these days? Or online somehow? Hope your stash lasts as long as the restrictions. I feel for you...yet another ripple effect from this pandemic.

No to purchasing hotels or anywhere. Fines can be up to as much as $10,000 US if someone is caught buying or selling alcohol.
All our hotels, bars, restaurants are firmly CLOSED! Not expected to return until mid-May at the earliest. But since face masks will be compulsory - how can one drink and eat? Aperol spritz will be OK, through the usual straw, but pizza? And beer and wine?
Drinks markets are closed - presumably because their main business is said hotels, bars and restaurants. But our supermarkets have amazing inventories and will sell us alcohol - but not new clothes ...
Face masks must be worn in shops, buses and trains from Monday here.
No notice at all when restaurants and hotels will open (it has been intimated it will be mid-May to mid-June).
Well as long as the liquor supply chain remains open, folks will care less what they are wearing! 😂😂🤣
I can only imagine what “return to normal” plans look like where you live. Each region/country are grappling with said plans...like a global experiment really. Somehow it feels like life will be forever changed. We will recall life before the pandemic....and life after it.
Liquor stores also remain open as an essential service in Australia. Still trying to work that one out but remain grateful. 🌻
I believe keeping liquor stores open reduces the risks of fatality due to sudden withdrawals for persons struggling with substance abuse (in this case alcoholism).
In Canada, at first, Cannabis stores remained open as well. Later they were ordered closed, but the provincial online cannabis store is still operational (although deliveries take some time due to the demand in online orders).

I agree. It's potentially fatal to remove alcohol for alcoholics without close medical supervision.
Yep, when we’re Spain (should have been there now but the consolation is fab weather in Lancashire at the moment) we often have a cava with brunch 🍾🥂😊(and occasionally in the uk too but shhhh... don’t tell anyone 😂)
Two of my mates are stuck in their house in Spain (they went over two weeks before the 'lurgy came'. This week they should have been cruising and in UK for his 70th in May. He rang yesterday, they have had a couple of weeks with steady rain...........so the rain in Spain does not just mainly fall on the plain'.
Better there than on a cruise though!

Yep cruising is a definite no no for me at the moment. We should have been in Spain for nearly 3 months from end of March to late June but that’s obviously gone - (unless a miracle cure is found and we can have the later part) - and we still have flights booked to Seattle for a month from mid August to mid September to do an Alaskan cruise and a Yellowstone trip ... can’t see that happening either 🤪 but we’re hoping BA will cancel the flights before we have to🤞... It’s all a real step change to the way we run our lives now isn’t it ... but hey ho.... in the great scheme of things we in the west are still by far the most fortunate people on the planet and if this is giving us a little taste of some of the constraints of the vast majority of the global population them maybe somehow we might (and the planet might) benefit somehow? Gosh, this is a bit deep for a Sunday morning isn’t it - I’m off out to do more gardening😊...
Yes the weather in Spain has been awful recently, certainly in the Murcia region which is where we go and hereby have lots of friends locked down down there ... now I’ve got over my initial tantrum, I think we were lucky to be just a couple of days too late to leave the uk - and I’d forgotten how lovely spring in The UK can be ...

In shielding group so should not be out at all .
I am getting to stiff even doing excesses at home I did go out at 7.00am not a sole around and at 9.OO pm again saw no one feel so much better for it .

Go for it!💥 Can't really see it can do you any harm if you don't meet anyone, don't touch anything, keep your hands off your face, don't touch your hair (can't think of any others).😂😂😂 BUT - don't forget to wash your hands, put all your clothes in the washing machine, etc etc. You might be able to relax then and ask yourself "was it worth it"?????
Wear Scarf over nose and throat ,head band to keep hair of face and sunglasses carry hand gel on me as well .
I have to say - re the touching your face, I have found wearing a mask like the sort we used playing cowboys and injuns in the 1950s (when we hadn't heard of PC-ness) makes a great difference. It stops my hair tickling my face!
Mine irritates me more at home! Tried all sorts of things to keep it tidy and off my face. It's so fly-away!
Can’t see the problem if we stay clear of others.

I am basically isolating so don't trust others to keep clear of me....or their bodily "releases" to do so. I have to go (again) for bloods to be taken at a drive through. I live in a built up area where people can disappear into houses and round corners coughing, sneezing, breathing in the street which is less than 10m wide and each path around a metre. I suspect if there are asymptomatic people wondering around, and I believe there are, then the viral load is practically unknowable anywhere, including in a place like my street.
There is no way I risk it and even when I went into the street to get in the car for the blood test, I did watch the street for a good while before I went out. I may be over careful but high risk means high risk to me and there are things some research shows like:

a) I am not a lady
b) without you I would not have achieved so much, others contributed as much as they could. It is just I have a first class honours degree in being awkward and have a mouth the size of Tynemouth.
I raised a glass to absent friends and thought about all who have PMR and GCA and the others that have different auto immune illnesses. It is so sad when our bodies turn on us and we are all asking the question 'why me' when the answer is 'why not me'.
I look at people and as I did as a kid, I still wonder........the human race is a wonderful, mysterious and complex. I can sit alone in a cafe or a park or anywhere and just look at people. We are a fascinating bunch - warts and all.
My neighbours came over and sat spread out in the garden, which was hilarious and we toasted you all at 6pm.
Thank you all for your wonderful thoughts. Stay well and stay safe and remember there is a light at the end of every tunnel, we just damn well do not know how long the tunnel is - but you are never alone if you reach out..........

My Cousin, who lives with me is 91 on 11 Sept and she has gone off all alcohol, which leaves more for me.🥃 That glass has Brandy in it.

Thank you very much for your advice to contact Dr. Mackie. (re GCA or not update). Today I had a telephone appointment with her for her second opinion and she said that I do have GCA. I'm not unhappy about this, just relieved that I am now with Sarah Mackie.

just going to get a scotch..haven't had any for ..a long time , over 6 months!.. this calls for a celebration! Also I am off my first trial of methotrexate for three weeks now (supposed to get tested again as my liver enzymes went up ..but have postponed going out and I'm feeling a bit better)...besides I've a hypothesis that neat single malt scotch will kill corona virus in the mouth and if I gargle maybe there too? It seems when one does a DNA test to lower the microbiome one should swish moth etc with pure vodka or scotch about an hour before as it kills most of the microbiome...so , well it will beat bleach (don't try bleach anyone)!
Meme on FB suggesting Dettol over ice - I reckon it will taste like Leapfrog or another peaty whisky ...
Do they ever read LABELS? I should have learned by now, that no-one even reads the paper accompanied by all prescribed medicines.

Many many thanks for your time and effort spent in sending me the booklet and DVD.I received it today,Friday,and have as yet spent literally no more than 30 minutes reading the booklet. If I had read this way back in December when it all started then I may well still have made some of my mistakes but with a much clearer understanding.
I have spent so much time researching PMR/GCA/Steroids/PMR representing as RA etc,etc,and the real puzzle being that I haven't been able to find a description anywhere of the absolute and mind numbing pain of those early weeks.
Yet here in your booklet I can see a clearer example of what my experience was.
I cannot explain enough just how much this booklet helps,why on earth are they not given out at doctors surgeries etc,I haven't even watched the DVD but I will over the week end.
Once again a big thank you,I have decided to join PMRGCA as they appear to be the clear leaders,in my case,in providing support and and when needed a kick up the backside.

That is a post I did not expect to see. I am happy to see that you are going to join the Charity, it is run by Volunteers and 2 part time employees. Without them, we would all still be struggling. The age range would still be late 60's onwards, and not down to 50. There would be no fast track, which is not yet in every major hospital
I only have a tiny few spares, but when someone is really in need in my eyes I make the offer.
There are local, actual support groups and I would urge all to join them.nothing like a face to face. If anyone one is interested, PMRGCAuk North East Support Group have a few copies available. There is a small charge.
The booklet is slightly out of date, but 99% of it still applies, progress has been made since both the DVD and Booklet were produced..
I am so pleased that with a bit of luck and a fair wind, you will have gained some knowledge and that is power and also, perhaps, gently educate some medics you may come across.
In the meantime, we are here so ask away however idiotic the question might appear to you - they very rarely are.
