Parker is building his workbench in my newly refurbished after the flood living room.
You can see the tools and sharp metal bits on my shiny new red leather couch. The workbench rests precariously on edge the new coffee table unencumbered by a protective sheet to avoid scratches.
He managed to catch the the legs he was attaching before they crashed in to my contemporary ornamental fireplace. I wondered what the loud noises and swearing was about.
I returned from the kitchen to the newly appropriated Shed space to ask if he would like a cup of tea and see how if he was ok. I had not long since removed the paint from the couch where he had sat at the weekend with his work clothes on. I was far too flabbergasted to nag.
Are flare ups related to stressful situations or am I just a bit picky?

Reading this gives me flashbacks to every weekend as I go around with dust sheets, newpaper etc to try to save my home. At least this Easter He can’t go out to buy materials.
Mine would be locked in the shed permanently! He does regularly get his radio controlled truck out in bits in the lounge but keeps them on the carpet thankfully!!
Last week I caught my husband mixing cement in the kitchen sink. He couldn`t understand why I wasn`t happy. Perhaps he and Parker could become good friends?
Are you having a flare? Though given the current situation in general, I suppose a flare could be expected and anything that adds to the stress will contribute as well. Like staying at home more than usual, and transferring the shed to the living room ...
We’ve only been back here 4 weeks. The move from the rental and sorting out services utilities and furniture replacements has been really trying for the last 3 months. I’m struggling at 10mg but can manage. I think I’ve just done too much. I can’t leave a job half done. You’d think after 4 years of PMR I would know my limitations. The enforced isolation is making me pace myself but it’s taking its toll as well. I want to go out just to hide from reality. Then I pull myself around and think how fortunate I am. Parker in truth is 95% great. When I feel a bit rough the 5% daft stuff is at the forefront. I’m don’t need to go up anymore on the pred just need to slow down and accept it is what it is. Parker really doesn’t care if I do nothing as long as I am alright.
New one on me and I like it...............just wait till I can get out again to friends.
My Grandad used to say.............."I am going to the shed". It was complete with ashes and emptied once a week. Just before beginning of WW11 a Council house and he no longer had a 'shed'.
He used to take me to where the old demolished cottage and 'shed' had been, a new house and a big garden. He told me the back garden was good growing ground.
It is lovely when someone says or writes something and happy memories come flooding back.
The Pigeons have a lovely Loft. There’s no flying this year due to the virus. People can’t meet to basket, time in or travel to liberation points. Their house is looking favourite around the moment. But they do produce eggs and come the famine (we’ve had flood and plague) they might come in handy? Bit too far forward planning?
Pigeons, I live on a narrow road, only enough room for one lorry or bus at a time. The bedroom had one of those little windows that stick out.
It was OK till the Pigeon carrier came down - twice they managed to bash the window out. The third time, we said, just pay for the window to be replaced and flush to the wall. I should have thought of that the first time. BTW that window had been there since 1785. They were happy.
I still like pigeon fanciers......... not so happy with other pigeons, they eat all the bird food.
We call wood pigeons “The Fatties”. They don’t come in the garden as the food is all indoors. Except for the little wild birds. We had to come up with a feeding station that was Cat Proof near the car scarers and Fatty proof so they couldn’t land to nick the food.
Men seem to have a different thought process to women. I have to go into another room every time my hubby of 40 years gets the gorilla glue out! A friend of ours sang the praises of this glue and now he thinks every diy job needs "a drop of gorilla". I have run out of acetone unsticking him from things! He's already banned from doing major diy jobs as he's cost me a fortune to put things right in the past. He acknowledges he isn't any good with diy and he hates doing it anyway. However as far as his gorilla glue efforts go he's on his second bottle and has now discovered they do superglue. I don't know if a trip out to get acetone would be considered an essential journey so have warned him that if he sticks himself to anything, including himself it will be a trip to hospital with all the risks that entails with the current situation. He's listened so far and even let me throw out a broken mug this week
I have to keep him for now. He’s the shopper. He’s gone to work and as that’s a tad stressful dragging round ten times more Mail than Christmas I’ve give him a bit of leeway. Doesn’t get on line shopping though he collects it from firms and takes it to the depot to be sorted. If you can’t touch it you don’t need it.
Flare ups are definitely related to stupid things my husband does that irritate me. I am having a flare now & had to go to 17 1/2 mg. of predisone after being down to 7.
Thank you for reminding me why I daren’t go near my husband with a knife in my hand 😂if only self isolation meant by myself 🤣 does anything else help apart from 🍷? X
I can’t believe I missed this post somehow and just saw it - I have one exactly like that at home - tools from the garage and workshop constantly appear in the house - not to mention planks of wood that appear to trip me up, screws and nails and all sorts finding their way into the washing machine- paint, glue, unidentified sticky marks all over the place ....
and conversely, household items, knives, sieves?!?, bowls, measuring jugs - any and all food related things are misappropriated and used for all kinds of unhygienic diy purposes and often have to be replaced🙄! I used to scream and shout (and throw said items at him) but now I just take a few breaths, think nice thoughts to lower the stress ... and then do unspeakable things to his toothbrush - ha ha only kidding about the toothbrush but one of these days... 😂
