NHS Text... Not even a peck on the cheek from the old girl

Anyone else get the vulnerable person text from the NHS?

I knew it was coming but am shocked. I can't even wander outside

I am sorely tempted to start an Internet Radio Station!

Don't get texts , got a letter and two phone calls from my surgery today , more attention than I usually get in a physical emergency.

We are in the same club with a few more of our happy forum bunch.

At least you get to beat the boredom by chatting to us on here , 12 weeks will fly by once you get into a system .

Welcome 🤪😉

It's a bit of a rollercoaster few mins isn't it.

Have you a garden that can't be accessed by anyone else? The clue is having an outdoor area that is 2m from anyone and they can't touch anything ...

No. We own in a 6 apartment block and 18 apartments all have a share in the gardens. There is a garden my wife and I built but I'm afraid to go out now. X

You can go out. Carry a shillelagh to brandish (with good humor) at those who forget to keep their distance.

Funnily enough I went for a stroll with Mrs Motown. I took a walking pole with me and was prepared to use it. D

Ha ha, I was just saying to my husband we should go out with walking poles to poke anyone too close 😁

When reading the text (OH got one early this morning) it reads that you stay indoors, but can open a window. This infers, or at least we think it does) that you can't go outside in garden?????

One comment on another forum was that if you have access to your own garden which no-one else can use and get close to you it should be OK. The reasoning was that otherwise you cannot be sure that items haven't been contaminated by someone else.

I am please that they care enough to make sure all who are vulnerable know now exactly what you have to do. 'It takes away the can I can't I' syndrome.

You say that but my OH - disabled and with a host of problems - has heard nothing. I had the message a short while ago on my mobile phone. 14.58 today 24th March from the UK Gov. telling me to stay at home.

Presumably OH is unable to get out alone? So both of you need to self-isolate. If you don't have family/friends who will shop for you and leave it on the doorstep you should be able to get assistance even if you have to wait a few days for more details.

They have said it may take to the end of the week - they will have 1.8million texts/letters to send...

Thanks for that. I went out yesterday morning to the Drs with a prescription only to be called to from across the road that I should not be out. I also wanted newspapers and milk. Yes my OH is a big worry at this time - he would not battle the coronavirus.

As an outdoor person I've spent the morning in the garden. Like everyone is saying the air is so much better in quality at the moment. It was a pleasure to be there. My cleaner is not coming again because of the coronavirus and I am wondering how I'm going to cope with that. I am very fortunate - my two sons are doing the shopping between them but both of them are working. My elder son works from the hospital

as the engineer providing electronic equipment to people who need it in their homes.

Like me - let it get dusty!!! Dust is very patient - it will always wait ...

It's not the dust it's the kitchen that bothers me. I never knew how much work is entailed with just two people in the place!

Everything else we are managing between us.

The thing is, we already know this. It’s the others who refuse to social distance that need this message! 😊

It sounds like there are going to be special arrangements for deliveries of basic essentials and medications for those who received the texts / letters too. I phoned chemist who does my repeat prescription. Whilst delivery arrangements are not yet in place a member of staff has volunteered to deliver it to me on her way home tomorrow. I haven't received text from NHS, but my husband has due to transplant so I need to follow same instructions as hubby to try to keep him safe. Having said that I am still anticipating text for myself, though criteria states 'significant' autoimmune therapies so is a bit open to interpretation. My sister, who has severe COPD, hasn't received her text yet. Watch this space..........
