Parker says Hi!

Have a happy Valentines Day Stare at your loved one today. Even if it’s not human or present at the time. A photo will suffice.

Stroke your resident furry animal or eat yourself sick on chocolate. Smile randomly (not insanely)at 3 people. Be happy for others and wish them love regardless of how they treat you. Inside they may be fighting a battle we know nothing about. This is a step toward to internal peace.

Thats how Parker and I are celebrating 33 years of for better or for worse in sickness and In health . Unfortunately Parker got the worse part but he’s not complaining. I’ve just bought him £2,000 of double glazing. When he stares forlornly out of the window with the fleeting thought of “Did I sign up for this 33 years ago” at least he will be able to see out of them. The old windows had blown and were misty. Bit like Parker’s eyes when he stares blankly in to mine.

Have a lovely evening - gosh you know how to spoil a man - double glazing indeed!

I can get the lid off the chocolates one armed, but not sure about the bubbly - would have been hubby’s 79th on 16th - so will have to mark both days somehow.

He didn’t much like his given name, but was very pleased he wasn’t born on the 14th!

And no, it’s sometimes better not to know what you signed up for in the first place! My truly romantic man (honest) always reckoned he could have served 3 terms for murder and still been free!

Actually managed 46 years before he threw in the towel... with plenty of good times.

Not sure what mine honedtly thinks of 30 years in july although he has occasionally mentioned life sentences but i just ignore his muttering and hold tight to the pillow in case it lands on his face!!

DorsetLady profile image

actually I knew mine was joking - and loved me dearly, so I just smiled and ignored it... like you do in life very often. But I didn't let him getaway with much TBH!

Over the years i dont think mine has had an easy ride to be fair!! I am far from being a laid back person generally and if i have a bee in my bonnet, well......

Ahh....but you love him really, deep down! and I bet you haven't walloped him in the knee with a frying pan - whilst trying to wash up! That's another one for the family memoirs.

PMRpro profile image

Wouldn't be the knee I aimed for ...

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply to PMRpro

Well he was stood behind me wiping the dishes - and messing about - so warned him if he didn’t stop what I’d do. Of course he ignored me - so quick flick backwards and caught his knee! Good job I didn’t get a full swing at it!

After 30 odd years you’d have thought he would know when I said pack it in- I meant it!

DL - so violent?

Well the Viking does come out at times - not often - but at least I issue a warning first!

If people don’t take heed 😳 tough!

Yep, that was a standard line of my husband’s too.

Any ‘animated discussion’ between us usually ended with:

Me: “You don’t deserve me!”

Him: (muttering with feeling) “You’re damn right there!”

🤣😂🤣

Wow! My husband would divorce me on the spot (if that is possible) if I bought him something like that.

I had an extra long snuggle with my fuzzy one this morning.

Then I sent him out to walk the dog.

I've bought a Valentine special steak meal for two. I think I'll regret eating it all myself but it was a bargain and I'm worth it :)

Oh yes there is ( a cordless Vacuum Cleaner )

That’s what mine got for Christmas as I was fed up with him moaning about the cylinder one. He hasn’t moaned since. 😂

Lookingforideas profile image
Lookingforideas in reply to Bird-67

Ha ha ha, I demanded a Dyson cordless one quite recently (before Christmas) and received it wrapped in xmas paper 🤪. There was a ‘lengthy discussion’ about the appropriateness of that gesture ... ... he swears it was ‘only a joke’ 😂😂😂

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to Lookingforideas

I would like to try one - but I refuse to buy anything with that name now which is a bit limiting ...

OTOH - GoodHousekeeping praises the Karcher as lightweight and good for small hands or limited hand mobility ... Hmmmmm

Estellemac profile image
Estellemac in reply to PMRpro

For some reason I don’t like Dyson. My choice would be the Shark if it wasn’t over £200. Trusty Henry serves me well.

Highlandtiger profile image
Highlandtiger in reply to PMRpro

Yes I have an issue with that company too. Shark was recommended to me as a more palatable alternative but I’ve not looked into it properly yet....

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to Highlandtiger

It's the man I have an issue with! I do have 2 Dysons, an old upright and a replacement suasage-style to replace a VERY old one. But it isn't a patch on the old one and I struggle with lifting, pulling and holding the bit for the floors because the handle and tube are far too fat for me to hold. iRoomba has her place but won't do it all ...

Highlandtiger profile image
Highlandtiger in reply to PMRpro

Yep. It’s the man with me too......and wanting to replace an old one with a lighter one from a different brand.

maria40 profile image
maria40 in reply to PMRpro

Me too. Dyson joined the list of unacceptables - like Amazon (which can be quite challenging now) but we have to have our principles.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to maria40

I do use Amazon - to stock up my Kindle ...

Certain chain of pubs I won't be going to again I hope - although a lot of the family patronise them so that may pose a bigger problem on our limited visits to the UK ...

maria40 profile image
maria40 in reply to PMRpro

I was very uncomfortable having a drink with my daughter in a pub which I had not realised he owned - until I saw the propagandist beer mats.

Highlandtiger profile image
Highlandtiger in reply to PMRpro

Likewise. I definitely won’t be entering any of those pubs ever again (not that I found them particularly nice anyway). Amazon is trickier as we have a massive problem with lots of companies charging significantly more to deliver to the Highlands than elsewhere in the UK whereas Amazon doesn’t discriminate. However when I have an alternative I do try and support retailers who pay their taxes.....

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to Highlandtiger

I haven't ever bought anything on-line! OH has. But it is quite a pain waiting for deliveries here and I happily go to the local shops, knowing if anything is wrong I can speak to the person who sold it me! Without my patronage they would go under too.

Lookingforideas profile image
Lookingforideas in reply to PMRpro

Fair point actually -I too have gone right off Mr Dyson and I guess I should have put my money where my mouth is - not sure if that was brain. Fog/forgetfulness? Or maybe I’m just shallow 😱🤪. I did start going into Iceland occasionally though after they did the palm oil/orang utan ads at xmas 2018 - does that mitigate my lack of backbone? 😊

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to Lookingforideas

I think it certainly counts! Mind you Iceland is a shop I had never been into until on holiday in Malta!!! Found a few gems though - including gluten-free mince pies ...

Lookingforideas profile image
Lookingforideas in reply to PMRpro

I’d not been in Iceland either till then - junkfood processed readymeals are not my thing at all, but I was so impressed with their environmental pledges I thought I should support them so I did go and get frozen veg for a while 😁. I’m a little cross with myself about the Dyson now I’ve actually thought about it though, but hey ho, if/when it breaks, I’ll find another brand to appease my conscience 😊

Oh great 😂 I feel a bit guilty now for not wrapping it in Christmas paper 🤔

I saw the delivery man walking up the driveway and said to hubby your Christmas present is now being delivered and let him unwrap it 😂

I hope he was suitably impressed?... We're celebrating 46 this year... Not sure how we got here 🤷. We always told the kids "we don't argue, we debate).. We did a lot of caravanning in South Africa where we met. The kids took bets on how long it would take before debate started.. And that was just getting out of the drive 🤣🤣😂😂. Oh happy days, I think!!... Hope you enjoyed Valentine's Day... 🌻

Sounds a bit like us! Just got to 46 - and have a 40 year old daughter too. I don't think I feel old enough for that - well I did yesterday but 2mg more pred seems to have worked a minor miracle although I didn't think it was that instrumental in my atrial fibrillation!!
