In all the years I have been on the forums it is something I have only heard mentioned being used once and it didn't work for the person who tried it!

albertarheumatology.com/nat...

reports it has been shown to reduce pain in osteoarthritis because it reduces joint breakdown. This doesn't apply in PMR so there is no reason why it would help and most pain in PMR really does seem to be in muscles and soft tissues.

So maybe I should be taking it for my OA? Hmmmm.....

What, please is MSM? I'm an oldie and all these abbreviations go beyond me!! It took me ages to realise what OH meant?

Methyl sulfone apparently

Oh goodness! "Methyl sulfone" - now I'll have to look THAT up!!

I know!! By not "so" old meant 56 and have no idea what half these abbreviations mean and had thought i was hip and.trendy and knew all this stuff but obviously not!! One of my legal execs insisted on speaking and writing in some sort of shorthand so i wrote her some case notes in french and we are now speaking and writing in plain and simple english again!!

😂😂😂. By the way I was only joking (as if you didn't know)!

I've just realised you are only 3 years older than my daughter - now I really DO think I'm old! Blimey you could be my "Granddaughter"!!!!!!!

Yellowbluebell profile image

Dont!!!! Its scary when you start looking at ages and you realise someone you chat with regularly is the same age as your child/mother or even worse grandchild!! I used to wind my poor gran up by saying how old i was knowing she had forgotten which then made her groan about being old. Besides you are more active than a lot of younger people on here!!

You're right - I could NEVER speak to my daughter the way I "speak" on here. Age really DOESN'T matter, does it?

I read once that a child asked "how old are you Gran" and Gran answered "I can't remember" so the child said "look in your knickers it tells you on a little tab". I have't quite got that far yet!😂😂😂

Just shows how irrelevant age is. Hurray!

I had to ask. We don't call hubby other half here!

Constance13 profile image

I would never have referred to my husband as "other half" - I learnt that expression from PMRPro. Not a bad description though - that's what they are!😀

I do not think so. Not in my case anyway. :D

Oh dear! I hope I didn't stand on your toes!?!

We've been married sixty two years so.......😍

We've been married for 52....

In some ways we are too much alike, in others not at all. We are neither twins nor mirror images.

I picked up OH on here as well and like constance do consider him as my other half but my mym and dad were married almost 40 years but were not each others half by any means. Each of us is different separately and together.x

I find it preferable to "Significant Other". But it fits for all sorts of relationship ...

If you google MSM for PMR you'll find some discussions on the Patient forum.

That’s why I asked. No real answers here

I have always got the feeling I might be wasting my money with MSM. It also says it boosts your immune system while pred does the opposite. On the other hand I have never tried it.
