So stiff!

It’s a real struggle to get up the stairs and getting out of a chair also.

No pain thankfully. Down to 5.5 mg. I have had this problem the whole 2 years I have been on this journey.

Getting me down a bit 😬😥

So sorry for you .

Do you think it's Fatigue that is causing this ?

Did you have any other mobility or joint issues before PMR that may be adding to the stiffness?

Have you ever been offered any extra advice or help for the Fatigue and Stiffness ?

Inactivity exacerbates stiffness ,people have found, gentle yoga , Pilates and Tia Chi helpful. Keeping active in gentle ways. Physios can give useful exercises. At my worst my lovely yoga teacher moved my limbs. She did yoga too me. It was amazingly helpful.

Do you do any form of exercise? Many people even without PMR have poor leg muscles and struggle to get out of a chair without assistance or up the stairs - hence the populatirity of riser chairs and stair lifts! Which of course just compound the problem.

I found adapted Pilates and aquafit helped me retain mobility even without being on pred for the first 5 years of my PMR. Jane has suggested other options - good instructors will show you how to adapt moves for you at the start - and it is surprising how you will improve quite quickly.

Thank you for your helpful replies.

I am quite active all things considered. I can walk for 4/5 kilometres most days. Plenty of sit downs on the way 😊

I am sure it’s PMR still lurking in my system. Never had this problem before diagnosis.

Having reduced from 60mg to 5.5 in 2 years I was hoping to be well on the way to complete recovery.

The realisation that I am kidding myself is very depressing.

I look well , have lost nearly all the excess weight I put on and mostly sleeping a lot better. Yes the awful fatigue is still there. So must be grateful all things considered.

Seeing consultant at end of January so maybe he will suggest something.

Thanks again for helpful replies.

Happy and healthier new year to all on this site 🌟💥🌅🌠
