Vitamin K2

I started to take Vitamin K2 - but am not sure just when I should take it?

I have been taking it in the morning when I take my Pred (plus Amlodipine and Atorvastatin) after my breakfast, but am wondering whether it should be at the same time as I have my chewable calcium Vit D3 tablet (2 x day, mid morning and mid afternoon)?

Also what sort of dosage should I take? My tablets are 90 ug capsules and it says "take 1 - 2 capsules daily with a meal". I have started off on the 1 capsule.

Thanks for any advice!

Thanks DL - do you take them with food? (Must say I only spotted the instruction to "take with a meal" just now when posting!!)

Yes, after my evening meal. But if you want to continue taking mid- afternoon just have something light - slice of bread, spoon of yogurt, piece of fruit - whatever.

I thought atorvastatin should be taken at bedtime.

I take my Vit k2 with my evening meal when I take my 2nd d3/calcium. Mine are 200 ug

My Atorvastatin leaflet says "any time of day, with or without food" + pharmacist label just says "1 a day". Just asked my OH + he says his stroke consultant specifically said at night after food. But I think my mum was told to change from PM to AM beause it gave her nightmares....!

But advice seems to be to take K2 with calcium - that makes sense if meant to facilitate calcium absorption

My late husband was told to take his in morning after nightmares also.

It depends on the statin - some work better taken at night, some with dinner

My atorvastatin says on it to take at night and I remember my doctor telling me to keep it on my bedside table

I'd still have it in a dosette box! It is still possible to forget it and not know if you have taken it!

At the end of most weeks I have 4 or 5 unused tablets in my box, but I took them all, didn't I? 😏

Thanks for the link PMRPro - interesting. Think I will check with my GP next time I see her!

Hi Kalimche

My K2 capsules are 75ug and directions are 1 a day. I take it with breakfast along with Pred, soluble Aspirin, Bisoprolol and Losartan.

I was told to take my Atorvastatin at 10pm.

Thanks a lot! So seems my daily 90 ug dose of K2 is enough. Otherwise I seem to have opened a can of worms....!!
