CHIPMUNK LOOK

I was just reading the papers and it says that young people are using so much filler they are getting the “chipmunk look”. If they took steroids they could get ut without wasting any money!

Love it. At last I'm fashionable!

And they seem to want to dye their hair grey too.

in reply to SnazzyD

I am going to try a dyed grey with purple ombre look.... Got the cheeks.... Just get a couple of wasps to sting my lips and I am all set! 💋

Its a sort of lilac gey isnt it? I quite like it but know it will not suit me especially with my hamster look!!

Remember the age of the blue rinse?

Yellowbluebell profile image
Yellowbluebell in reply to SnazzyD

Oh god yes!! I worked as a saturday girl in a hair dressers when 15/16 and it was still popular

Well now the kids dye their hair with Koolaid don't they? Was the blue rinse to counteract the yellowing which sometimes happens to white hair?

Yellowbluebell profile image
Yellowbluebell in reply to HeronNS

Maybe or it was to counter the effect of dyed blond hair going yellow

Just found what looks like the definitive article in The Telegraph.

Hairdressers keep offering me the lilac shampoo rubbish! Which is the modern equivalent of the blue rinse which, as Heron says, is to combat the yellowing. Which I welcome as it makes me look blond ...

The funny thing is there isn't really any natural grey hair. It's just what hair looks like which has not yet turned fully white. I must say a young face with grey or white hair looks beautiful. My uncle was completely white when he was about thirty and I so wanted to be like him, but I just turned grey slowly, and now nearly completely white, starting at about eighteen and continuing to the present day.

Chipmunk cheeks, grey hair and very white “false” teeth! I look eighty but I am really only twenty years old.

You’ve forgotten the fat stomach and neck just to complete the look , or is that just me ? 🤔

I remember using Magic Silver White hair rinse in the 60s. It was all the rage. I think it gave a mauvish effect.

Don't forget the crinkled arm look, that's all the rage!!

Ohhh—- I’ve got those too — and after five months only! It’s a bugger!

I think all your replies are wonderful. It's what I like about this forum, it's not ', I feel sorry for myself ' Brilliant, keep up the good work. Although you have forgotten the dry fuzzy curly look! Anybody recommend a good conditioner? x

in reply to Devonspinner

A post wash serum might be better. My sister and her daughters use bumble and bumble products which they raved about. A bit expensive for me. I used curl defining products and shining serum things when mine was really frizzy.

Thankyou for that advice. I found a lovely serum when we were in France on holiday. Seems that we will just have to go back. Really appreciate your advice to all the queries x

in reply to Devonspinner

Thanks Very Muchly. Hope a serum works. My hair used to be really fine and did need conditioning. Less of it now but coarser and frizzy. A new experience. 😊

Kevin Murphy has a huge range and he does one to take the fuzz out of curls. I like his products and they are all natural ingredients, yet they work. People swear by his Angel wash and rinse. Expensive, but you only need a bit.

love it. I am happy to say my chipmunk cheeks are receding now that I'm down to 10mg. daily..........and believe me, if I have a relapse, I am pushing through it to see if it is truly trouble on the horizon before I call the rheumatologist and have to go back up. 10 seems to be the magic number.

Great responses everyone. I didn't get the chipmunk cheeks but did get the werewolf vibe wiry eyebrows, which seem to have disappeared once I got below about 10.

On a serious note I'm seriously concerned about all the youngsters using fillers and so on and what will be the consequences in 20 years or so. Look at the problems with mesh and some breast implants, which no-one knew about at the time. I keep having a (gentle) go at one colleague at work (aged 30) who keeps getting her lips injected, completely unnecessarily in my view. I think it's addictive to be honest. She says I say exactly the same as her Mum. I said her Mum is clearly very wise.......... I also feel ancient!

I really don't get the lips thing! I was watching a TV programme the other week - this beautiful girl had lips that looked like a cartoon picture, especially in profile...

piglette profile image

Eyebrows seem to be the in thing nowadays. It seems they must be very thick and wide, I would think werewolf eyebrows would be really up to date.

The big slug-like ones do seem to be fining down a bit?

piglette profile image
piglette in reply to PMRpro

Oh good, they looked awful. Some woman on TV had them done and they put them in the wrong place, so she had two sets of eyebrows! She was devastated.

Highlandtiger profile image

Noooo.....they joined up with my hairline. It was awful! 🐺

Hello all, just wanted to say that you have all lightened up my world with your fun, on a positive note I am a natural blonde in my eighties and my eyebrows almost dissappeared in my seventies but since starting the steroids they have returned, and the chipmunk effect gas filled in my hollowed aging cheeks, everyone is telling me how well and young I look, so there really is a silver lining, bless you all

in reply to Dukeyears

I actually missed all this last week (not so very well)

I did more/bigger hair (which is currently a wig after a battle with Chemo)

Longer Earrings to slim the face.

Extended my Neckless’s/Beads using an extender chain, as they became too tight around my neck 😉

Bought Bigger Clothes & l too look very well 😊 not that l feel it!.....
