Just a bit of light heartedness!

I phoned my doctor because he had written a referral to my physio but had put "twice a week" and I can only cope with once a week. He said he'd send me a new one. I answered "thank you, you're a dear". My other half said "you can't call your doctor a dear".πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Why cant you? Its not rude and i think is only patronising when used by some whipper snapper aged about 16!!

That's what I thought when my OH said that. Just an old woman showing her appreciation.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I think your doctor was probably very happy to be told that

Your doc probably holds those kind words like a bouquet of flowers, i can imagine not all words sent his way are so kind. Well done.πŸ’ƒπŸΌ

When you see Dr's as often as some if us do..... My Yorkshire one is "thank you love" which is a step up from my dad's favourite... "thank you old cock".... It confused my Dutch sister in law. πŸ˜‰

I think that's lovely. Probably made his day. There's a commercial on tv here where they advertise a service providing meals for people who don't/can't cook and the grateful customer describes the delivery man as "an old soul" as he smilingly puts her weekly order into the freezer.

You speak to him in English? Hast Du nicht gesagt "Das ist liebe von Dir?"

Nein! I always speak to him in English - I have for 25+ years. He asked me all those years ago if I would prefer to speak English or German - I said "you choose" - we've been very friendly since!πŸ˜‚ He has helped open a clinic in Ethiopia (goes there once a year - or if there is a problem) so I knew the English language would be a great help.

I speak English with my rheumy - no-one else speaks good enough English. Oh - and the cardiologist who did my pacemaker. Which seemed to alienate the nurses!! But I do say Du for the ones I speak German to ...

I had a telephone conversation with my rheumatologist and I commented that is was one year since he diagnosed me. He replied’ happy anniversary darling’. We both laughed out loud. Made my day actually πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

πŸ‘ So lovely to hear so many of us have really lovely, caring doctors. We are VERY lucky.

When my old aunt used to visit her dr,probably 40 years ago..he used to ask her if she wanted a cigarette and a glass of whiskey!! He's long gone now.
