Just wanted to thank all of you who replied to my original post for all your lovely messages which I really appreciated.

Life goes on now, but it felt very empty coming downstairs this morning, and no morning walk!!.

Signing off now, but, if more replies come in, then thank you to all who do so. You are lovely people.

Yes, it’s the lack of footsteps that tweak the heart. I often imagine a group of our dogs past trotting along with our current ones as we go out. It’s getting into a proper pack now and I don’t have to pick up after them!

Touché. I like that thought!

That is a lovely thought. As a family we have a few in a pack.

Paddy I live alone with my lovely 12 year old hound and I dread that feeling, so if you can bear a morning walk please try at some point. They are beloved.💜

Thanks. We clearly have a lot of like minded people on this forum.

I've even forgotten about PMR for a couple of days, and that can't be bad!

Can you face the thought of another yet? My daughter was heartbroken when her first rescue podenco died after just a year - but it was only a couple of weeks before the next arrived to foster and stayed. She has another foster dog at the moment as well - but he must be found a home, lovely though he is. It was Rasta who healed the hurt.

Yes PMRpro, we will get another, but not just yet. We've been through this more than once before, and it doesn't get any better, but we both need the walking excercise, and meeting people.

Previously, we've had two dogs, but not this time, and I think that has made it worse.

But ....... Life goes on!

Thank you for your reply.

Best wishes

Paddy

Yes, 2 would make it less obvious I suppose. But at least a dog hasn't lost its buddy. Hugs and I know you will be there quite soon xxxx

We lost two to a tragic death at the same time and could not even lift up our chins up off the floor. A dog friend said 'The best therapy for a loss is a new puppy.' and I thought no way. But the suggestion stuck and a few days later we did get another puppy and she was such a salve to our brokenness. We can never forget the loss, but we got a new purpose.

You sound like a blessed home for a homeless pup.

So sorry for your loss.

Thanks for your reply. At 79 and 76, it won't be a puppy, but we are both open to another dog .
