Well, I am heartily sorry.

Ok, folks, I now regret that I posted about my visit with the Homeopathic person.

I have received some emails that are rude and angry. I am disappointed that people are not more tolerant of other people and the alternative things they would like to try.

I am concerned that you feel that your account of seeking the help of a homeopath was received with intolerance and alternative views and even rudeness. I sincerely hope that my response to you was fair and balanced. I know the world of PMR very well and the world of homeopathy too. Please do not feel unwelcome here. There is room for other views. I guess people are concerned. I liked your post and remember the internal and external battles I had about alternative care. I wish you the very best in your journey towards wellness.

Hi Km

I’m sorry to read that you received replies that you felt were angry & rude, l shall ask our Moderators to look into this for you.

Everyone is entitled to their point of view & their willingness to try an alternative approach.

Kind Regards

Some were a tad sceptical, and I must admit when I read the original post I did think that would be the overall response. However, most expressed an interest in hearing how things progressed.

The odd one maybe a bit strong, but not as rude or angry as perceived by km5yx7.

Perhaps this should have been viewed by moderators (and members) in relation to your post the other day about posts from new members and their views on treatment.

Yes , that was what I thought Goddess Freja!

I will happily admit that I gave some views , but although they probably spoke caution against much of the advice and claims being given by that particular Homeopath , I reread my points and believe I wasn't rude or angry but just tried to consider the two sides of the discussion , the research and my honest view.

As per Bee!! Mrs . Mumsy!!!😉😂😂😂

If people were more direct in their opinions , or cautions , that is their right on an open forum as long as they are not being unnecessarily rude or personal.

None of us appreciate hearing other people disagree strongly with our decisions , especially if those opinions include facts that are against something we really want to do .

As Miss Marple says , " There's nothing that people dislike hearing more than good advice."

But rereading the post , I am sure that members were only trying to give cautions from a sense of caring , not just for the post writer, but most importantly, for anyone else who happened on it, read it and were considering a Homeopathic Solution might work for GCA/ PMR themselves.

I think the rudeness was directed to the Therapy in use for PMR/ GCA and not at the post contributor herself.

If , however , anything I , or anyone else , said was taken personally or felt hurtful to Km5, I know it wasn't my intention,, or that of our regular contributors , and they would feel sorry for causing anyone sadness.

Good luck.

no matter what you do folks out there , it all has to be your decision , in the end we all respect that decision , even if we find we can't support it with our opinions.

This message was to all by the way , as Brain Fog made me press to message DL , rather than sending it to Mrs N ( aren't you on a break!??) by mistake. xx😘

Work in the US? Where will you be? Bloody hot over here!

Albuquerque - and yes, bl**dy hot but we landed in a thunderstorm! So extra humid too. But it is actually less hot than we left behind in Munich!

People are entitled to their own opinion but I am sorry if you think they are rude. I wondered did you mean public messages in response to your post or private messages? You can't have had emails unless you shared to with people. If it's private messages and they are inappropriate then please report to moderators.

If you think something helps then it helps you. But I would prefer evidence based medicine these days having spent my life savings in the 90s on everything from Chinese medicine to kinesiology and accupuncture. I would still use some techniques to help and would say I don't trust big pharma either. But without significant evidence for the way these things work...or don't work beyond the anecdotal then I am afraid it is always going to be a matter of (heated) debate

I truly believe in the use of homeopathy in its place but it needs to be documented and guaranteed not to make anything worse.

Having just read the thread, like DL I see nothing that is particularly angry or rude. Do you mean you have had private messages of that sort? If so, please report them.

Blearyeyed profile image
Blearyeyed in reply to PMRpro

Yes , that is very different , can't see anything rude or personal in the post replies but someone might have been in contact via PM , that would be wrong and you Moderators would deal with them firmly.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had rude responses to your post about a visit to a homeopath. I'm not on here so much these days, so I didn't see your original post at the time. I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with your homeopathic remedies!

Hi km5yx7,

It is very easy to say things on discussion boards that sound a bit harsh when there is no intention of wanting to cause hurt. When you read some Twitters about MPs for example they would make one suicidal. I run a local website and a B&B refused to offer a room for two men together. I had death threats because I was advertising the B&B on my local website. Poopadoop says she does not trust big Pharma in this thread, I worked for the pharmaceutical industry for thirty years so could take exception to not being trusted, however I am sure that is not what Poopadoop meant. I am sure that the individuals who wrote to you were not meaning to be rude and angry. We do debate a lot on this forum and so people do disagree with each other, hopefully this is positive not negative.

Blimey , death threats !!!!

Thank goodness we haven't reached that stage on the forum yet , despite the heightened emotions with Pred!!!

I might be one of the first on the" Hit List"!😋😂😂😂

Your reply was very observant though , and gives a great rounded view of how as Humanity sometimes the Variety is a bit too Spicy!

Hugs xxxx😘

As far as I am aware and no ambassador has said anything different to me or mrsnails I am assuming the messages received are the responses seen on the forum and no private messages. The responses are just other peoples opinions including my own and whilst not favourable about using homeopathy as a cure for pmrgca or for other medical issues they were mostly curious about the results in relieving any side effects of pred.

As already stated everyone is entitled to an opinion and as long as they are accepting of other peoples opinions in turn then the post and responses seem fair to me.

The problem with online comunication is that the eye contact is missing! Sat with any of the contributors to your question you would have seen their concern when they talked to you. This can make some answers seem rather direct, but my experience of this site is people are trying to give their experiences and concerns to help you make a wise decision. Take care Jen

Fully agree with your comments about concern on “alternative” remedies from experienced patients.

Plus some new patients are

a. feeling very fragile, and may not be as rational as they could be (which sometimes we oldies forget), and

b. think they might have a found a brilliant, new, steroid free answer to PMR and don’t like the fact - there isn’t one! If there was, we’d all be on it!

I missed your post re your visit to the homeopathic person. I have now read it and the responses. OK some were to the point (definitely not "rude and angry") but you can't expect everybody to agree with your views! I think the aim of this forum is for general discussion, and above all else, help with this unpleasant illness. You are finding comfort with the homeotherapy - that's good. For you. But not necessarily for anyone else. So thank you for sharing your views and feelings with us, it was much appreciated. What is not good is the taking your bat home attitude. This helps nobody. I wish you well in your journey and sincerely hope that the homeopathic person speeds you to an early recovery.

I didn't want anybody to agree with me!!

I just wanted to let people know what I was willing to do to find something in addition or other than steroids. And report back what the Homeopathic person told me.

It does not mean that I took everything for 'gospel' that he advised. There is room for lots of medicines, drugs, herbs, potions and salves in my life. Look how CBD changed suddenly to be legal and how it helps millions of people now.

I have lived with only solar panels for electricity since 1996 and people at that time looked on with scepticism. Look how every building has them now--or should.

Dismissing a studied and very educated person as a 'quack' is rude in my mind.

Let's not succumb to 'Trumpism', please.

Thank you for the people with encouraging words.

Regardless of what others have commented about responses to your post....you felt what you felt, and advised us as a group how you that made you feel.

Most of us searched for answers, solutions, cures, supplements and medications, especially at the beginning (as pred is so often warned about, including the horrid side effects, which in turn can cause fear and anxiety for us).

As someone who doesn’t always win the popularity award as a blonde, marijuana-consuming sex educator, I must say this group for the most part has been accepting and non-judgemental. I hope you too experience the same.

Of note, direct personal messaging is a good place to chat specially with one member of the forum, if you have a concern....or a great connection. It’s also a place to chat about things outside of the PMR realm.

We all choose an individual response to our condition (s), sometimes it’s mainstream, sometimes it’s not, and sometimes it’s a combination.
