Out of one problem into another!

Hi everyone

I am pleased to say I am still off steriod tablets which is almost 3 months! I have booked a treatment with a Bowen’s therapist thanks to jinsac.

Yesterday I had a steriod injection In my hip and shoulder and I have to say I have a had a great improvement in my gangster limp. Which was obviously a result of residual bursitis caused by PMR.

Now bad news! I have had a scan which showed a cyst on my ovary which now has to be investigated in case it’s nasties. This was an incidental find! I dont think I can blame PMR on that one unless anyone knows anything different!

I will need to be free on PMR to deal with this one! So fingers crossed it’s harmless! I should know in the next couple of weeks!

When will it stop!!! Since hitting 50 I have fallen apart!

Well done with where you have got to so far.

Another hill to climb but you have built up such skills of patience and mental strength dealing with PMR I'm sure that you will reach the top too.

Not over the hill at 50+ but celebrating by putting each victory flag in the top !

Thanks you are so right I am

Feeling that I can deal with what ever I need too! Plus loosing the limp has been fantastic I am sleeping so well as I don’t have pain in my hip now. That makes life easier to deal with 😀

Rooting for you. I think this is why the older generation was so suspicious of going to the doctors - you think you have a spot and they discover a boil! 😱

Hi there Julie. Yes, have to agree, hitting 50 has had a lot to answer for, for me personally, found out I'm not as well as I thought I was, having had good health up to this point, then a load of things one after another (I'm sure I'll have no teeth left by the time I'm 60!!!!🤣 🤣 🤣). I feel for you but you sound very strong and positive, so try not to let it get you down. Let us know how you get on. All good wishes and hugs. X

I know what you mean about the teeth! Mine have done the Hokey Cokey! Back at dentist to have my front crown put back in tomorrow! But hoping that will finally stabilise them! I can’t afford £2000 plus for another implant! I discovered this late that I definitely chose the wrong profession😂

Wait until you get to 76 Julie, like I am ...you can't sneeze, cough or laugh without having an accident. 😂

Like you ,I have gone through all those stages of getting older. You still have a long way to go dear. You are a spring chicken.

It's not bad at all if you look at all these 'setbacks' as a challenge and not defeat.

I wish you strength and a positive outlook.

Negativity is feeding all our nasties.

I shall be pulling for you and so will all the peeps here. You are not alone, so many supporters here.

Hugs.

Just thought I’d share that there are a range of Kegel products on the market now that really help with strengthening the pelvic floor, and thus addressing incontinence. They provide instructions to easily work through a range of exercises utilizing technology that gradually strengthen that area. The products can even measure your progress! My female clients have reported success with these products.

Hi there all I can say is that the steriod injection was fabulous and I haven’t slept so well in ages. I am hoping that one is enough to settle what I believe was bursitis as a result of the PMR. It took me a while to recognise the difference to be honest. I almost feel like the old me:)

So glad to hear you are 3 months “free”. Bowen Therapy has helped me before, hope it will for you too.

I am curious about steroid injections in shoulder and hip. I currently get them for my knee which is awaiting replacement, however my GP mentioned they don’t like to inject the shoulder as eventually the injections break down cartilage and damage the effected area. Same with the hip unless it’s being replaced.

I have also heard about other types of injections in the shoulders (hyaluronic acid??), and wondering if this is a viable option? Any thought?

I also have a cyst on my ovary and after ultrasounds and blood tests was told it was not cancerous and is being kept an eye on. Like you I felt what next. My cyst causes no pain and was discovered after a MRI to rule out things before my PMR diagnosis
