Eyes after cataract surgery

In 2014 I had both my eyes operated on for cataracts. Yesterday when I visited my Optometrist he announced that one of my lenses is developing what he described as like a frost on it and said it will eventually need lasering. Is this a result of taking predisolone? Can anyone enlighten me as to what is happening? I found it disconcerting.

No it’s not related to Pred, it’s a fairly common affect. See attached from RNIB -

You can help preserve your cataracts by always wearing sunglasses or transitional lenses when outside - even in winter or slight cloudy days.

Had mine replaced in 2014 also, Optometrist told me 2 years ago, there was slight clouding at edge, saw him last month, and it’s not progressed any.

One thing the Optometrist did say yesterday was that eyes tend to be more sensitive to light after cataracts have been removed. This is certainly true in my case. I find the reflected light from across the road can be a problem in my kitchen at times(my kitchen being on the front of the house). I've even wondered if I should wear sunglasses indoors.

That might be an idea - or get transitional lenses. Whichever option is cheaper!

No - nothing to do with pred, it is a regrowth of tissue across the artificial lens and happens in about 1 in 5 patients whether they are on pred or not. It is called posterior capsule opacity:

They say it only takes minutes to do.
