What a shock

Dear all, and I mean all. I have been reading, writing, reacting on this forum.for over two years. It was a sort of a lifeline in this time of illness and stress and I came to feel attached.to a lot of members. And now I see a protocol, and I am certain that it is made with care. But where is the protol for the moderators? And why is there no possibility to react. I don't feel.save anymore to express my feelings in a vulnerable position. Please let love prevail.

There’s always been a protocol Zofitmogelijk. Like me you probably haven’t read it or forgotten if you have. It is unnerving but really there’s little change. It’s been brought to the fore as a reminder, as it’s needed sometimes. You can still comment if you’re unhappy about something. The moderators will have guidelines to work within just the same. It is frustrating and you’re not on your own in feeling vulnerable at this time. I too hope all this will pass.

The guidelines have been there for a long time - they have just been updated.

Your posts are perfect Zofitmogelijk. I think we all kind of know when we’ve gone a bit daft with a great long thread about our lives/ interests. I guess those are the ones that are a pain to moderate. This is the first time in my 3 years on here that this has happened. My guess is that it will settle down and return to the safe space we all appreciated.

Thank you Jane, always awake and helpful, yes let us hope the boat is bringing us to quiet waters.

Maybe we can't have quiet waters. We're all on steroids, after all.

But we can build better boats.

Yes good grief, since the alternative is a canoe.

It isn't new at all, it was always there. Kate has posted today and if you read it carefully you will see this forum is for people with PMR and/or GCA to gain information about PMR and GCA and is run under the guidance of the official charity which has close connections with the medical community. It isn't Facebook or Snapchat.

If you feel vulnerable about anything that is affecting your life with PMR/GCA then you can still write about it, ask questions and comment. The problem has been there has been a lot of totally unrelated discussion which has tended to drown out the more serious stuff and made life for some people in the charity rather hard. On other forums that sort of discussion isn't allowed at all and on the patient.info site they are big enough to employ people to do the moderation and also use automatic capture to pick up posts that don't abide by their rules - you post or reply and if it catches certain things it is stopped until a person looks at it. It is a common thing on many blogs as well to avoid trolling or spam. If it is about something else totally unrelated to your PMR it will be stopped. Here we have been allowed to "self police" and use our common sense but it seems to have not been working as it should and on a few occasions has got run away with.

It's no different.
