Next taper - 7.5 to 7

10 degrees, birds singing, back door open and waiting for electrician as we are having a garden makeover and hot tub... Feeling excited and looking forward to the jets helping my PMR (as long as I can climb in!). Am managing all my daily duties (dogs, work, autistic group, Full Monty at theatre, Green Room at cinema - out to meal for valentines tomorrow). Saw nurse yesterday for, would you believe, my poor thumb nail - first of five I am to lose after hand foot and mouth. My skin on Hands is taking ages to recover. But the nail is "hanging" and catching on everything. DR Google said contact Dr so I did hence appointment with nurse. Upshot is my scheduled cholesterol blood test tomorrow will include more tests to see if I am deficient in vitamin D, calcium or iron. I explained I take all those supplements but they have to check. Also I now have to glue the nail! Today I managed to stick my finger to my thumb nail and had to pull the finger off which was very painful and an expletive escaped my Essex lips! I have been on 7.5 for three weeks this weekend. I had thought I would reduce - I am stiff across the shoulders but the hips hurt a.m. and are stiff but loosen up by p.m. I am definitely better today than I was in first two weeks. And I am doing everything (I do rest...) So I plan to reduce Saturday by alternating 7.5 and 7 for next three weeks and see how I go. The only reason I dither, quibble and now post is should I wait to see result of blood tests? I really don't want to relapse! Thanks!

Lovely positive things in your post! Nail salons of all places, do very good, neat nail repairs. I have had one after a painful break low down towards the cuticle. No more pain or catching. Buy some little steps. Lucky you.

Good luck with your tests!

Hi Pongo

Well Spring sounds as if it’s on its way, which is good for the soul!

As Jane says pop into your local Nail Salon 💅🏼 they’ll do a repair for you, save you gluing one finger to another!

Maybe wait another week before you start reducing, get the blood test results first & go from there.

The Hot Tub sounds Amazing!

I have hot tub envy!

I would wait another week maybe and get your blood test results before tapering.

Sometimes soaking in hot soapy water will unstick finger from nail glue. ATB.

Yikes!! Your issues with your nails sound very painful. I hope they can help you with it.

We have a hot tub and I must say it is AMAZING for my PMR (only thing is in the winter here in Canada it’s sometimes covered with snow/ice, which makes it “inhabitable”. Hope yours provides relief.

While tests are pending, and you are still feeling symptoms, you may want to wait to taper again. No rush as we often say on here.

Hope you get some relief from your woes. Keep us updated.
